Hi [[FIRST_NAME]],

As we settle into the middle of winter, there's plenty happening behind the scenes at Sandy Bay Sailing Club as we prepare for another exciting season on the water. This month we're thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity to join the club as our new Sailing Operations Manager. If you're passionate about sailing, coaching and helping grow one of Australia's leading junior sailing clubs—or know someone who is—we'd love to hear from you.

We're also gearing up to host the Australian Secondary Schools Teams Racing Championships, one of the biggest events on our calendar. The regatta will bring over 200 sailors to the club and showcase both our club and Tasmania on the national stage. An event of this scale relies on our incredible volunteers and we would love to see as many people as possible at our working bee on the 4th of July to get the club ready.

As always, thank you to all our members, families and volunteers for the energy and commitment you bring to SBSC. We can't wait to see everyone back on the water soon as we build towards another fantastic sailing season.

SCHOOL TEAM SAILING NATIONALS - 9th to 12th July
  School sailing

It's nearly here - we are hosting the 2026 Australian Secondary Schools Teams Racing Championship next week! It has been many years since we hosted this event and we are very excited.  There are 26 teams from all over Australia competing, with seven Tasmanian teams involved.  Team Sailing is a fantastic spectator opportunity with fast paced racing right near the shore, so come down and watch the action. You can find more information HERE.

We are also looking for last minute volunteers for this event. If you are keen to help out please email Jen.

WORKING BEE - 4th JULY
  Working Bee

With the Australian Teams Racing Championships just around the corner, we're calling on all members, parents and supporters to lend a hand at this weekend's working bee. It's our chance to get the club looking its best and make sure everything is ready to welcome teams from around Australia. Hosting national events is something our club is proud of, and it's only possible because of the incredible effort of our volunteers. Come along, catch up with friends, enjoy a coffee, and help us showcase Sandy Bay Sailing Club at its very best.

NOW HIRING - SAILING OPERATIONS MANAGER
  Sailing Ops Manager

As Sandy Bay Sailing Club continues to grow, so too does the amount of work involved in delivering the high-quality sailing programs, coaching, events and member experience that our club is known for. To help support our volunteers and ensure we continue building on this momentum, we're excited to recruit a Sailing Operations Manager. This new role will provide day-to-day leadership of our sailing activities, allowing our volunteer committee to focus on the club's long-term future while ensuring our sailors and families continue to enjoy an outstanding experience. If you know someone who would thrive in this role, please share the job advertisement through your networks. Finding the right person is one of the most important investments we can make in the future of SBSC.

We'd like to sincerely thank Ben Perkins for his contribution to our sailors, coaches and club community and wish him the best of luck in his new adventure as a trainee real estate agent.

SPONSORSHIP AND FUNDRAISING

SPONSORSHIP DRIVE

As a member of Sandy Bay Sailing Club, you already know what makes this place special — the community, the opportunities for our kids, and the time and effort that goes in behind the scenes. Sponsorship is one of the most impactful ways you can support the club’s future. Whether through your business or connections, helping secure sponsors directly contributes to better equipment, stronger programs, and more opportunities for our sailors. It’s a chance to give back, strengthen our club, and ensure SBSC continues to thrive for the next generation.

We also have an opportunity to sponsor a major national regatta being held at the club this year - the 65th International Cadet Australian Championship in December/January.  This is an amazing opportunity for your business to be seen by families from across the country.

If you or someone you know might be interested, please get in touch with committee member Shona Prior. Phone 0408004699 or email priorshona@gmail.com.  Our club prospectus is available HERE.

  Life jackets

GOT SPARE LIFE JACKETS?

Our Tackers life jackets have done a fantastic job helping hundreds of young sailors learn to sail over the years, but many are now showing their age and need replacing.

If you have a junior life jacket in good condition that your family no longer uses, we'd love to give it a second life at SBSC. Donations will help us build a refreshed pool of jackets for new sailors and ensure every child can get out on the water safely and comfortably.

CONGRATULATIONS!
  TIS

CONRATULATIONS TO OUR LATEST TIS TID32 ATHLETES!

A huge congratulations to Cordelia, Isaac, Henry and George on being selected for the Tasmanian Institute of Sport Talent ID 32 (TIS TID32) program!

The program has been set up to keep an eye on young athletes that have the potential to go to the Brisbane Olympics. This is a fantastic recognition of these athlete's hard work, dedication and potential, and a great opportunity to continue developing as athletes.

They join fellow SBSC sailors Charlie, Casper and Atlas, who are already part of the TIS program, highlighting the strength of the talent pathway at Sandy Bay Sailing Club.

Well done to all seven sailors—we're incredibly proud of your achievements and can't wait to see what comes next!  For more information on the program and to sign up for notifications next year, click here.

  CADET WORLDS

GOOD LUCK TEAM TAS!

The countdown is on as our Tasmanian sailors prepare to head to Lake Garda, Italy, for the International Cadet World Championships in August.  We have five teams heading to Italy - Olive and Haran, Alex and Harriet, Islay and Ella, Archie and Thomas and Hunter and Lachie (from SA).

We also have Lachie, Archie and Gracie participating in the promotional regatta running in paralell to the world championship.

On behalf of everyone at Sandy Bay Sailing Club, we wish the team good winds, great racing and an unforgettable experience. Make the most of every opportunity, enjoy the incredible venue, and most importantly, have fun!

We'll be cheering you on from Hobart. Safe travels and good luck, Team Tassie!

NEW AUSTRALIAN SAILING INSTRUCTORS!

A big congratulations to our newest Australian Sailing accrediated instructors, Islay, Olive, Chloe, Henry and Isaac who completed their course last weekend.
