Hi [[FIRST_NAME]],

As winter begins to give way to spring, we're getting ready for the new season.  It's only 74 sleeps to Season Opening Day on the 17th October! Pre-season training starts even sooner.

Last month we were proud to host the Australian Secondary Schools Teams Racing Championships, welcoming the country's best school teams to Hobart for a fantastic week of close racing and great sportsmanship. A huge thank you to the volunteers, officials, sponsors and supporters whose efforts made the event such a success.

We're also proudly following our International Cadet sailors as they represent Australia at the Cadet World Championship in Lake Garda, Italy, and we wish them every success on the international stage. Closer to home, we're excited to host another Australian Sailing Instructor Course later this month, helping to grow the next generation of coaches and instructors who keep our sport thriving. We're also delighted to have been awarded a Her Path to Play grant, which will help us create even more opportunities for girls and women to get involved in sailing and club life, including opportunities to obtain FREE Qualifications!

Behind the scenes, our volunteers and coaches are busy preparing for the new sailing season, with racing, training, Learn to Sail programs and events all coming together for what promises to be another exciting year on the water. Thank you to everyone who continues to volunteer, coach, support and cheer on our sailors—your enthusiasm and commitment are what make SBSC such a special community.

GOOD LUCK TEAM TAS!

Our Tasmanian Cadet sailors are currently in Lake Garda, Italy, for the International Cadet World Championship.  We have six teams currently in Italy - Olive and Haran, Alex and Harriet, Islay and Ella, Archie and Thomas and Hunter and Lachie (from SA) are competing in the World Championship.   We also have Lachie and Archie participating in the promotional regatta running in paralell to the world championship.

On behalf of everyone at Sandy Bay Sailing Club, we wish the team good winds, great racing and an unforgettable experience. Make the most of every opportunity, enjoy the incredible venue, and most importantly, have fun!  You can keep up with their results HERE.

We'll be cheering you on from Hobart. Safe travels and good luck, Team Tassie!

As Sandy Bay Sailing Club continues to grow, so too does the amount of work involved in delivering the high-quality sailing programs, coaching, events and member experience that our club is known for. To help support our volunteers and ensure we continue building on this momentum, we're excited to recruit a Sailing Operations Manager. This new role will provide day-to-day leadership of our sailing activities, allowing our volunteer committee to focus on the club's long-term future while ensuring our sailors and families continue to enjoy an outstanding experience. If you know someone who would thrive in this role, please share the job advertisement through your networks. Finding the right person is one of the most important investments we can make in the future of SBSC.

SCHOOL TEAM SAILING NATIONALS ROUND UP
  School sailing

What a fantastic regatta! Sandy Bay Sailing Club was proud to host the 2026 Australian Secondary Schools Teams Racing Championships, welcoming the best school teams from across Australia to Hobart for four days of outstanding competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie.

A huge congratulations to Hutchins Gold on being crowned Australian Champions. It was fantastic to see SBSC sailors Charlie, Archie, Haran and Lachie play a key role in the team's success, showcasing the skill, teamwork and determination that teams racing is all about.   Well done to all our SBSC sailors who represented their schools and SBSC with pride!

The event would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of our volunteers, race officials, umpires, coaches, sponsors and supporters. From on-water race management to catering, boat maintenance and logistics, hundreds of volunteer hours went into delivering a championship that received outstanding feedback from competitors and schools alike.

We would also like to thank all of our sponsors, including major sponsor, the Australian Maritime College.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a memorable success. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Sandy Bay again in 2027 for both the Australian Nationals and Interdominion Championship!

You can find more information about the event HERE.
