Hi [[FIRST_NAME]],

As winter arrives, it's a great time to reflect on another successful season at Sandy Bay Sailing Club.

A highlight of the past month was our Annual Prize Night, where sailors, families, coaches and volunteers came together to celebrate the achievements, progress and contributions that make our club so special. Congratulations to all award winners and thank you to everyone who helped make the evening a success.

While activity on the water slows over winter, plenty is happening behind the scenes as we prepare for another exciting season ahead. Thank you to everyone who contributes their time and energy to the club — your support is what makes SBSC such a strong and welcoming community.

  SPONSORSHIP DRIVE

Sponsorship Drive

As a member of Sandy Bay Sailing Club, you already know what makes this place special — the community, the opportunities for our kids, and the time and effort that goes in behind the scenes. Sponsorship is one of the most impactful ways you can support the club’s future. Whether through your business or connections, helping secure sponsors directly contributes to better equipment, stronger programs, and more opportunities for our sailors. It’s a chance to give back, strengthen our club, and ensure SBSC continues to thrive for the next generation.

We also have opportunities to sponsor two major national regattas being held at the club this year - 2026 Australian School Team Racing Nationals in July and the 65th International Cadet Australian Championship in December/January.  This is an amazing opportunity for your business to be seen by sailros from across the country.

If you or someone you know might be interested, please get in touch with committee member Shona Prior. Phone 0408004699 or email priorshona@gmail.com.  Our club prospectus is available HERE

Coffee @ SBSC

We're excited to be trialling two beans, Coffee with Donny on Saturday and Sunday mornings at SBSC, featuring locally roasted coffee from Two Beans Coffee.  Check Donny's Facebook page for up to date information.

Whether you're heading out on the water, watching from shore, or just catching up with fellow members, it's a great opportunity to enjoy a quality coffee and support a fellow local.

Drop by, grab a coffee, and let us know what you think. If the trial proves popular, we'd love to see it become a regular part of the SBSC weekend experience.

  Life jackets

Help Us Refresh Our Tackers Life Jackets

Our Tackers life jackets have done a fantastic job helping hundreds of young sailors learn to sail over the years, but many are now showing their age and need replacing.

If you have a junior life jacket in good condition that your family no longer uses, we'd love to give it a second life at SBSC. Donations will help us build a refreshed pool of jackets for new sailors and ensure every child can get out on the water safely and comfortably.

If you'd like to donate a life jacket, please bring it along to the club or contact us for more information. Thank you for helping us keep sailing accessible, safe, and fun for the next generation.

Volunteer Call Out

SBSC is run by volunteers and a big part of being a SBSC Member is pitching in to help run things.

Although getting out on the water for Saturday racing is a fantastic way to watch the action.  There are plenty of off season tasks that we also need help with.

We also have opportunities to help out with the behind the scenes work that makes the club tick including:

  • Risk Management and Compliance
  • Regatta/Event Planning
  • Facilities Maintenance
  • Grant research & writing

Please email our secretary, Sharon to assist with these tasks.

Australian Cadet Team Training at SBSC

This long weekend, SBSC is proud to host members of the Australian International Cadet Team as they continue their preparations for the upcoming World Championship in Italy. An impressive five of the ten boats selected to represent Australia are from SBSC, highlighting the strength of our Cadet program and the dedication of our sailors, coaches and families.

The remaining team members have travelled from Victoria and South Australia to train together on the Derwent, which provides the perfect venue to fine-tune skills, build teamwork and prepare for international competition. We wish the entire Australian team every success as they continue their preparations and look forward to following their journey as they represent Australia on the world stage.
