RIB’s (Rigid Inflatable Boats) are available to members for purposes that assist our sailors to go sailing. Some children do not feel comfortable sailing alone or without a rescue boat close by and parents and/or adults may wish to train club sailors and this is the primary purpose for the club giving access to our RIB’s.
The RIB’s are to be returned clean with any equipment used returned to its correct storage area at the club. Hosing down of the RIB, trolley, beach buggy and motor, including a fresh water flush is required after every use of the vessels.
The club has strict criteria around the use of RIB’s and failure to abide by our rules may lead to access being denied for further use. There are two types of RIB’s available that can be accessed by members with the following requirements:
Mid sized RIB’s stored at SBSC with centre console steering:
The driver must be a member of SBSC unless prior pemission is given
The driver must have a current open Tasmanian power boat licence
The driver must have attended SBSC induction for driving the beach buggy, driving a rescue boat and at the start of the season attended an SBSC safety induction
Register online through RevSport at a cost of $45.00/hour for a standard rib or $55.00/hour for a large rib (VSR) to be paid prior to use of the RIB
Small sized RIB’s stored at SBSC with tiller steering:
Must be a member of SBSC unless prior permission is given
The driver must have a current Tasmanian powerboat licence
The driver must have attended SBSC induction for driving the beach buggy, driving a rescue boat and at the start of the season attended an SBSC safety induction
