29er Development Squad at Sandy Bay Sailing Club

Ready to go faster? 29er Development Squad is our pathway programme for young sailors making the transition from into the 29er — a fast, high-performance skiff with a trapeze and spinnaker.

Over this camp, sailors will learn the fundamentals of skiff sailing: rigging and derigging the 29er, trapezing, spinnaker hoists and gybes, boat balance at speed, and working effectively as a two-person crew. Sessions combine on-water coaching with shore-based briefings, building both the technical skills and the confidence needed to handle a much more dynamic boat than they're likely used to. It's a great introductory camp to prepare Sailors for our regular Sunday 29er Development Squad training starting at the end of October.

NOTE: All sailors must be at least 13 years old.

Prerequisite: You should already be a competent sailor in another boat class.
