9er Open/Intermediate Midweek Training

After-school training sessions are back for Term 4. These evening sessions are two nights a week, running Mondays and Fridays bringing our more experienced fleet together to have fun building skills, speed and race craft. Both 29ers and 49ers are welcome.

To register for open/intermediate training, you must meet the below requirements.  If you don't, please register for our supported 29er Development Squad training on Sunday mornings.

29er Intermediate/Open Training — Entry Requirements

Sailors should be independent and safe across the core skills, with only the higher-level technical/tactical skills still developing.
Sailors should already be able to:
  • Sail a 29er confidently in wind conditions from 5 to 15 knots.
  • Rig, launch and recover the boat with no coach assistance.
  • Tack and gybe reliably, including while sailing at speed.
  • Use the trapeze and raise and drop the spinnaker safely and confidently.
  • Recover from a capsize and get the boat sailing again without coach intervention and without holding up the session
  • Participate in club racing and understand basic racing rules and tactics, including manoeuvring around the racecourse and rounding marks effectively
  • Work effectively as helm/crew, with clear communication during manoeuvres.
  • Look after and check their own boat and equipment, including ensuring the boat is consistently maintained.
Simple registration test
If you are new to 29ers, or still need significant coaching to sail, manoeuvre, trapeze or use the spinnaker, please enrol in the 29er Development Squad first.

  • Time: RRTG 4:30pm to ~7:00pm
  • Cost: $xx/sailor for all 17 sessions, $xxx/sailor Mondays only $xx/sailor Fridays only (members prices)
