They're fast, they're exciting, they're an Olympic Pathway boat...and they're a bit tricky! If you're keen to start sailing 29ers, then this is the programme for you.
With SBSC's long tradition of 29er training and racing, and the home of past national champions, we're excited to help opti and cadet sailors to transition into the 29er for their next phase of sailing.
Our 29er Development Squad training will be a small fleet with two instructors to ensure that everyone gets the attention they need to progress quickly and start sailing 29ers well. well. Sailors will rotate through pairs with the aim being to build skills (and help sailors find suitable crews/helms, if needed) to begin racing and ultimately join intermediate/open training.
The focus is on learning to trapeze safely and efficiently, launch, trim and retrieve an asymmetric spinnaker, and fostering team work including crew sheeting of main and kite. A key focus will also be safe launching and capsize recovery.
