Perfect for teens aged 12–17, OutThere Sailing 1 is a fun, social, and action-packed introduction to sailing—no experience needed!

Run under Australian Sailing’s OutThere Sailing program, this course gets young people out on the water, building confidence and learning new skills in a supportive and friendly environment.

• Fun, hands-on activities in small sailing boats

• Learn basic sailing techniques, water safety, and boat handling

• Work in pairs or small groups, making new friends along the way

• Games and challenges that build teamwork and on-water confidence

Overview

OutThere Sailing 1 is a great introduction to the sport of sailing and the skills required but will still focus on fun with friends. The program provides a wide variety of on water activities that will introduce sailing and, depending on your club, an opportunity to experience stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing and power boating. You will learn skills through exciting exercises and put them to good use in fun, on-water activities.

Prerequisites

Water confident.

This program is designed for participants who are 12-17 years-old looking to try a new activity, have some fun and engage with others whilst sailing.
