Come and join us for some fanastic fun on the water wth friends! This will be 6 weeks of Sunday Pacer Dinghy training for beginner and intermediate 7-12 year olds. Our experienced Instructors will guide participants through sailing skills development in our sheltered Outer Harbour waters, while fostering a fun atmosphere. The 7th session will be a Sunday Fun Day where participants from all our different Juniors programmes will come together for a day of fun on-water gentle competition and games. We provide all dinghy vessels and life jackets, and participants must be confident swimmers. The RSAYS is accredited for School Sports Vouchers, and please note that participants in the Tackers training programme must be RSAYS club members. The Junior RSAYS club fee is an additional prorated annual $125 on top of the course fee. This allows us to provide vessels and life jackets for the kids to use and have fun with!

Course Overview

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to have fun and learn the basics of sailing through games on and off the water.

Course Outcome

By the end of the Tackers 1 course, the participants will be able to:

• Steer with tiller extension under towing paddling power
• Tie a figure 8 knot, round twice and two half hitches
• Tack (push turn)
• Gybe (pull turn)
• Reach around a figure of 8 course using both tacking and gybing
• Sail with tiller extension
• Sail upwind and downwind by following the safety boat

You will gain your Tackers 1 completion certificate.
