Course information

This course has passed.

Sailing training for advanced teens, who have completed Out There Sailing 3 or equivalent. While still encouraging a great time with friends on the water, this programme will focus more on advanced skills building with our experienced Instructors. There will be a mix of theory and hands on sailing, with training sessions on the Pacer dinghy's as well as our small keelboats (J24's), race and rules training, some hands on boat tasks to build skills in looking after boats, and plenty more! This runs Wednesday nights from 5-8pm, from and including October 15 to December 3 2025, then again Jan 21st to March 18th 2026. There will also be 2 Sunday Fun Days on December 7th and March 29th where all our teens of varying skill levels will come together for a day of fun competition and skills building in a relaxed environment. The RSAYS will supply all vessels and lifejackets for participants and while not compulsory we do encourage families to spend time or have a meal at the club dining area after the session to help foster friendships among the participants and parents. Please note that Greenfleet participants must be RSAYS club members, and the Junior RSAYS club membership is $125 annnually on top of the course fee, however RSAYS is eligible for School Sports Vouchers. Participants must be confident swimmers and wetsuits are recommended.

Program Focus:

Green Fleet is an introduction to coaching and learning to train.

Green Fleet promotes practicing the fundamental skills of sailing, introduces some foundation race skills through training activities in an environment that is enjoyable, without a competition focus.
