Safety: You need to sign the attendance sheet every morning upon arrival and again when you pick up your child at the end of the course. If you want your child to return home on their own, we will need an email from you. Please send it to training@rmys.com.au.
Child Collection Policy: Parents or guardians will be charged a late fee of $15 for every 15 minutes they are late picking up their child after the course closing time, starting 15 minutes after the scheduled end of the course.
Footwear: Your kids need to wear closed shoes throughout the sailing session. No open shoes or flip-flops are allowed.
Sun Protection: The sun in Australia can be very strong. Please apply sunscreen to your kids and ensure they bring extra for reapplication. A cap and sunglasses are also important for their protection. Bringing a water bottle for the boat is a good idea.
Clothing: To prevent getting cold, please ensure your kids have a waterproof jacket and, preferably, a wetsuit. A change of clothes is also recommended as dinghy sailing can be wet. There are changing rooms and hot showers available at the Club.
Snack and lunch: If they are staying with us for the full day.
Meeting Point: Please meet in the Training Room on the day. You can access the Club via the front entrance or the rear gate if you have your fob.
Each day will involve time in the classroom covering sailing theory, rigging and packing up the dinghies, and plenty of time on the water.
Weather Notice: Please note that sailing is heavily influenced by weather conditions. There may be instances where training needs to be cancelled or postponed at the last minute. The instructor may also decide to alter the program during the course, not to go on the water, or shorten the course due to weather conditions.
Cancellations: Please note that courses canceled by email up to 72 hours in advance will not incur a fee. However, cancellations made with less than 72 hours' notice will be subject to a $75 charge.
Important Information: Our sailing academy does not offer refunds. However, we will be more than happy to be flexible with any cancellations from our end and find the best solution to reschedule your sailing session.
