This Dinghy Sailing 1 course will be held on 28th April, 5th & 12th May 2024 and is suitable for participants with little or no sailing experience.

Course Inclusions

• 12 hours of tuition with an Australian Sailing-qualified Instructor.
• Sailing dinghies and lifejackets.
• The certificate and photos will emailed on the last day.

Start Sailing 1 is designed to provide a safe and enjoyable introduction to Dinghy sailing for complete beginners. It includes an introduction to fundamental boat handling skills and essential safety knowledge. 

Topics covered include the basics of:

• Clothing and safety equipment 
• Parts of the boat
• Rigging (setting the boat up)
• Steering
• Sail control
• Speed control
• Launch and recovery
• Capsize recovery
• Towing
• Sailing rules

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Sailing 1 And Start Sailing 2 completion certificate.
