2026 RTTA Round 1 Results

What an amazing start to the Renmark Table Tennis 2026 Season. With the largest participation numbers in decades, the season started on Wednesday with nearly 50 registered players. The first week of competition saw President’s Club have a strong win over Top 9 and Flat Hitters defeated Honey Badgers in a close one.

In the first match President’s Club started their season in a convincing manner, beating Top 9 17-9. Presidents Club was led by their captain Dennis Robinson who won all four of his rubbers, including a tight battles against Nigel Stoeckel and one of the many improving young players, Byron Livingston-Bornholm. The rubber of the match was played by two of our youngest players. Lucas Drawley-McIroy (Presidents Club) played a big rubber against Toby Munn (Top 9). Toby started strongly, winning the first 2 games easily but Lucas started finding the form he has shown over the summer, winning the next three to take out the rubber, 4-11, 3-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-8.

The second match was a closer battle between Flat Hitters and Honey Badgers, with Flat Hitters stealing the win 14-12. Honey Badgers took the early lead winning three of the five doubles rubbers, but Flat Hitters fought back in the singles, winning seven of the final nine singles rubbers. The rubber of the night was played in this match with Allan Hughes (Honey Badgers) stealing a marathon rubber off Michael Rose (Flat Hitters). Michael won the first two games comfortably, only to see Allan fight back in the third. The fourth and fifth games both went to tie brakers to see Allan eventually winning, 3-11, 3-11, 11-6, 14-12, 14-12
