Keelboat Level 1 is a great introductory course for anyone wanting to learn to sail.  We cover all the basics of keelboat sailing, plus theory and principles that can apply to any type of sailing boat. The course is run on our RS21 yachts - these are 21-foot long open keelboats that can be sailed like a dinghy but with the stability of a keel - no capsizing!  RGYC strictly abides by the Australian Sailing instructor/student ratios - places are limited so we recommend registering early to avoid disappointment. 

Dates: Sundays, October 11th to November 8th, 2026. NO SESSION OCTOBER 25TH.
Time: 9am to 12pm.

Cost: $380

Member Discount: RGYC Members, and children or grandchildren of members, are eligible for a 10% discount on all RGYC sailing courses. Please contact the Sailing Office via sailing@rgyc.com.au to obtain a discount code.

Complimentary Club Membership: Completion of this course qualifies the participant to a one-time, three month academy membership at RGYC, commencing from the course completion date. Membership gives a 10% discount on any subsequent course booked during the complimentary period. This offer excludes Discover Sailing experiences, powerboat programs and coaching courses, and is only available to individuals who have not previously been a member of Royal Geelong Yacht Club.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a keelboat. Learn the basics, whilst staying relatively dry! All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

You will gain your Start Crewing completion certificate.
