VHF Radio Operator Course September 2026 - Expressions of Interest

Event information

Did you know? To legally operate a VHF radio in Australia you must have a valid VHF License!  Register your interest here to attend a Short-Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) course on SEPTEMBER 17th at 6pm.  This will be an in-person course to be run at RGYC. SROCP is the more comprehensive of the two main types of certificates you can get, and is essential for anyone wanting to venture further than 12 nautical miles offshore.

The course will be run at RGYC by Nick Disney of Maritime Training Services, costs $200 (plus optional $20 for a physical copy of the handbook) and includes:

  • Advanced radio operation techniques
  • Detailed knowledge of maritime laws and regulations
  • Emergency communication protocols

Obtaining the SROCP not only makes you a more skilled operator but also helps you navigate safely in a variety of situations.

If you would like to attend a course in September (currently pencilled in for the evening of the 17th) please register your interest here.  We cannot go ahead if we don't get the numbers!  You will not be charged yet.

For further information please email sailing@rgyc.com.au or phone 0422 813 204.
