U18 BOYS & GIRLS – GLOBAL YOUTH SEVENS PLAYER TRIALS
EVENT WAIVER, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISK & CONSENT
By registering to participate in the Australian Raptors Rugby Academy Inc. (“Australian Raptors”) player trials for selection in the U18 Boys or U18 Girls teams for the Global Youth Sevens Tournament, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms.
1. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISK
I understand that rugby union, rugby sevens, training, fitness testing and associated sporting activities are physically demanding and involve inherent risks.
These risks may include, but are not limited to, collisions, tackles, falls, contact with other participants, equipment or playing surfaces, muscle and joint injuries, fractures, concussion, head or spinal injury, illness and, in rare circumstances, serious permanent injury or death.
I acknowledge that not all risks associated with participation can be eliminated, even where reasonable precautions and appropriate supervision are provided.
2. FITNESS TO PARTICIPATE
I confirm that the player is, to the best of my knowledge, physically fit and medically capable of participating in rugby training, fitness testing and trial activities.
I agree to disclose any relevant injury, medical condition, allergy, medication, concussion history or other circumstance that may affect the player's ability to participate safely.
I understand that Australian Raptors coaches, staff or event personnel may prevent or cease a player's participation where they reasonably believe continued participation may pose a risk to the player or others.
3. MEDICAL TREATMENT
In the event of injury, illness or medical emergency, I authorise Australian Raptors staff, coaches, trainers, first aid personnel and/or event officials to arrange appropriate first aid or medical treatment for the player.
Where reasonably practicable, the player's parent/guardian or nominated emergency contact will be contacted.
If urgent treatment is required and the parent/guardian cannot be contacted, I authorise Australian Raptors representatives to arrange ambulance transport, hospital treatment or other medical assistance considered reasonably necessary.
I acknowledge that any medical, ambulance or associated costs not covered by applicable insurance are the responsibility of the player and/or their parent/guardian.
4. ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I voluntarily accept the ordinary and inherent risks associated with the player's participation in the trial.
Nothing in this waiver is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any right or guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Australian law.
5. PLAYER CONDUCT
I acknowledge that all players participating in the trial are expected to:
- behave respectfully towards coaches, staff, officials, volunteers and other players;
- follow reasonable instructions from Australian Raptors coaches and staff;
- comply with applicable rugby laws and safety requirements;
- demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship and behaviour; and
- refrain from conduct that may endanger themselves or another person.
Australian Raptors reserves the right to remove a player from the trial for unsafe, inappropriate or unacceptable conduct.
6. SELECTION
I acknowledge that registration for and participation in the trial does not guarantee selection in an Australian Raptors team.
Team selections are made at the discretion of Australian Raptors coaching and selection personnel based on factors including playing ability, positional requirements, fitness, attitude, behaviour, team balance and other relevant selection considerations.
Selection decisions are final.
If selected, participation in the Global Youth Sevens tour will be subject to separate tour terms and conditions, player agreements, payment requirements, travel documentation and any tournament eligibility requirements.
7. PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO & MEDIA CONSENT
I acknowledge that photographs and/or video footage may be taken during the trial.
I consent to Australian Raptors using images or footage of the player for legitimate Academy purposes, including team announcements, website content, social media, promotional materials and reporting.
Where the registration system provides a separate option to decline promotional photography or video, that preference will apply.
8. PERSONAL INFORMATION
I consent to Australian Raptors collecting and using information supplied through the registration process for purposes associated with administering the trial, player safety, selection, communication and, where applicable, subsequent team participation.
Medical and emergency information will only be used where reasonably necessary for player safety, welfare and administration and will be handled appropriately.
9. PERSONAL PROPERTY
Players are responsible for their own clothing, equipment and personal belongings brought to the trial.
Australian Raptors is not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal property except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. PARENT/GUARDIAN CONSENT
Where the player is under 18 years of age, I confirm that I am the player's parent or legal guardian, or otherwise have lawful authority to provide this consent.
I give permission for the player to participate in the Australian Raptors U18 Global Youth Sevens Player Trial and confirm that I have read and understood this Event Waiver, Acknowledgement of Risk & Consent.
Where the player is 18 years of age or older, the player provides these acknowledgements and consents on their own behalf.
