We're excited to announce the inaugural RCTC Half Marathon, which will take place on Sunday 10th August! Starting and finishing at the beautiful location of Darwin Surf Life Saving Club, the race will follow a single lap course that will take you out and back along the famous Nightcliff Foreshore. This will be an event that you won't want to miss, and one that we hope will become a staple on the Darwin running calendar for years to come.
The first edition of the RCTC Half Marathon is almost here! Please see below for info related to race day and registration.
Where: Darwin Surf Club. Daribah Rd, Brinkin. Google map link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/4m97rQmqy47A8CBx6
The access road to the surf club from the roundabout (Daribah Rd) will be closed prior to race start until the last runner passes through. There will be parking available at Casuarina Cliffs for people arriving when the road is closed.
The carpark adjacent to the surfclub as you come down the hill will be closed for the entire event, as runners will be passing through to finish.
We request that friends/families/supporters park either opposite the surf club on the road or down the road a bit in the first carpark on the right. Please avoid using the surf club carpark as Nippers will be on.
When: Sunday 10th August. Race briefing at 635am, followed by race start on the road outside the surf club at 645am
Registration and bib pick-up: Regular registration closes on Thursday 7th August at midday. Entries will remain open after this point, but there is no guarantee we will be able to finalise a timing chip. Bib pick-up will be at Nightcliff Parkrun on Saturday 9th August at 8am. If you are unable to make this time, please let us know.
Entries restricted to those aged 16yo and above at the time of the event.
Course: View the course map and description HERE
There will be traffic management in place at various points, as well as volunteers pointing the way at any tricky spots (although there aren't many of these). Due to traffic control restrictions, cut-off time for completion will be 2h45min. We will not stop runners who haven't finished from running, but there may no longer be traffic management and/or water stations in operation, so just to be aware.

Water/hydration: Being reasonably familiar with running in the NT, we're aware the hydration is crucial. We might be lucky and get a crisp morning, but regardless, it's important to keep the fluids up. There will be 3 water stations along the course that will have paper cups with water, as well as one station as runners come back past the start and one at the turnaround point. So eight water stations in total, which will be fairly evenly spread out. There are also various bubblers along the way. If you're very hydration-conscious, consider carrying a hand-held bottle or wearing a hydration vest.
Timing and prizes: Participants can see their live race results HERE
