Rainbow Racquets Squash Tournement - Sydney

Squash Australia has again teamed up with Rainbow Racquets Squash Sydney for the Rainbow Racquets Squash Tournement - Sydney. The tournament is part of the Rainbow Racquets Squash Tour and involves a round-robin in the morning for each skill level (A, B, C & D), followed by finals the afternoon. We are expecting between 35-45 competitors..
The tournament is open to everyone 18+ years of age (LGBTQIA+ and Allies), with men and women integrated into the same draw, and caters for every skill level (with every player getting 4-5 games in one day).
Our home is again Hiscoes in Surry Hills – which is close to all the action happening during Sydney Mardi Gras. Hiscoes has 4 squash courts, with all matches allocated a time and everyone notified prior to playing.
The tournament is being delivered by Rainbow Racquets Squash Sydney, who are an amazing and enthusiastic group of players, and whom you will remember from having hosted many wonderful tournaments since Sydney World Pride 2023.
Expect plenty of competition, representing ALL the colours of our rainbow nation, from inter-state and from other squash clubs to determine WHO will be the Rainbow Racquets Squash Tournement - Sydney Champion in 2027?! for each grade.
TOURNAMENT VENUE
Hiscoes Gym - 525 Crown Street, Surry Hills, NSW 2010
The gym is across 2 floors, and will provide plenty of opportunity for warm-ups, cycling, weights and stretching exercises.
The city and buses are conveniently close by (1-2mins walk), or a short walk (10mins) from Oxford Street. There are change rooms and it has a small car park available under the building.
Plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops surround Hiscoes.
Hiscoes currently does not have a lift or wheelchair access.
TOURNAMENT ATTENDANCE
The Rainbow Racquets Squash Tournement - Sydney is part of Sydney’s Mardi Gras Festival, starting with Fair Day on TBC and ending with the Mardi Gras Parade & Party on TBC.
By popular demand for a weekend slot in between, we have scheduled our one-day tournament on the TBC, so that you do not miss out on all your other Mardi Gras commitments and fun that weekend.
TBC Feb, 08h30 – 16h30 @ Hiscoes
- Tournament Day - Round robin for grouping/seeds/ranking (morning) + followed by immediate knock out rounds/competition (midday/afternoon)
TBC, 17h00 – 18h30 (close to Hiscoes)
- Tournament Drinks (optional social for everyone)
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
- Full 1-day tournament, with possible warm-up option/s the evening before (TBA)
- Singles only - Level A, B, C and D
- Ladies and Men play together (inclusion/skills more important than genderism!)
- Round robins to confirm seeding (morning); then knockout/play-off rounds (midday+)
- All players will have a min 4-5 matches; finalists might have 6 matches
- Registration open to everyone (LGBTQIA+ and Allies) and 18+ years of age
- Please include your SportyHQ, SquashLevels, Rankedin rating to help us along

Register Early! Once we have exceeded any group allocation, we will put you on a waiting list for (likely) drop-offs and group changes closer to the event. NB: You will not be playing in a group that you have not officially agreed to...
GRADES
Group A: 10 -12 players (club/league play, regular comp experience, SportyHQ: 1100/1200+)
Group B: 10 -12 players (confident, some comp, rally tactics, squash fit, SportyHQ: 900-1100)
Group C: 10 -12 players (competent, good social game, good rallies, fit, SportyHQ: 700-900)
Group D: 08 -10 players (social players, simple rallies, basic fitness)
