The Glynis Nunn Shield celebrates the achievemnts of the first ever Olympics Heptathlon champion, Glynis Nunn. At the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games, Nunn took gold in front of her home crowd, putting her in prime position to be a medal chance at the 1984 Olympics. A close competition left the results down to the 800m, but after and epic perfromance, Nunn came out the victor by five points over local favourite Jackie Joyner. Nunn went on to finish fifth at the '84 Games in the 100m hurdles and later a bronze in the same event at the 1986 Commonwealth Games
