The Benita Willis Shield is a part of the 2020 QLD Club Challenge. For the Club Challenge rules, click here.

The Benita Willis Shield is held in honour of one of Australia's all-time greatest distance athletes. A four time Olympian (2000-04-08-12), Willis' greatest achievement came in 2004 when she took the gold medal at the World Cross Country Championships in Brussels, Belgium. She went on to win win team cross country medals at the 2006 and 2008 editions as well as a bronze medal at the 2003 World Half Marathon championships in Vilamoura, Portugal.

Competition Rules
A full list of Queensland competition rules are available on the Queensland Athletics website here. All athletes MUST familiarise themselves with these rules before submitting their entry.
For all hurdles, steeplechase and throwing events, athletes will be entered into their relevant age specifications for that event. If an athlete would like to compete in a different age group with different specifications, please contact Qld Athletics after entering. Specifications can be found here.


Close of Entries
Entries close at midday Thursday 3rd December. After this time the online entry system will automatically cease operation. 


Event Start Lists
Event start lists will be available on the Queensland Athletics website by the afternoon on Friday 4th December. Athletes MUST inform staff on the day of the competition if there have been any errors with their entry or if they wish to withdraw from any events.

Minimum Age
The minimum age for this competition is 11 years (born 2009 & turning 12 in 2021)
