World Athletics, Oceania Athletics, Athletics Australia and Queensland Athletics are very pleased to announce that the 2022 edition of the Brisbane Track Classic will take place on the 9th April. It will again join the World Athletics Continental Tour as a Silver level permit meet.

For the past few years, this meet has been known as the Queensland Track Classic. But to build upon the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, we have taken the opportunity to change the name and begin a successful journey towards 2032.

As one of around a dozen Silver level meets on the World Athletics Continental Tour, and the first of the series, the Brisbane Track Classic is the premier one-day competition in Australia, and we aim to provide the best all round experience possible for those in attendance.

Another exciting aspect of the Silver level permit is the $75,000+ of prize money on offer to the athletes on the day. Participation in the Continental Tour, at the Silver level, grants athletes the opportunity to gain valuable “B” level points, as they strive towards the 2022 Oregon World Athletics Championships and the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games

***Nominating for this event does not guarantee selection***

Please be advised, as per World Athletics regulations, we are limited to the amount of events that can be awarded Silver permit status.  The final decision on the status of each event will be made once entries are closed. This will be based upon the strength of the field* and the size of the field**. This will be made in consultation between the Brisbane Track Classic organising committee, Athletics Australia High Performance department and Oceania Athletics Competition department. All events at the BTC that are not given a Silver permit will receive Area Permit status and "D" level points.

A minimum of 3 Athletes from the Top 100 (counting a maximum of 3 per country) of the World Athletics World Rankings (in the month prior to the Meeting) to participate in each of at least 12 international events.

** There shall be a minimum of 6 Athletes in any one event
