Don’t miss out on PRNSW’s first road trip to the breathtaking Nioka Range for a weekend of precision rifle-related fun. We will be camping at the range for the entire weekend, so don't forget to pack your camper, swag, or tent.
The range is located about 1 hour west of Tamworth and is approximately a 5.5-hour drive from Sydney. It boasts stunning surroundings and is well-maintained, with steel and berms located at 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 900, 1000, 1200, 1350, 1450, 1550, and 1600m (one mile).
Camping will be on the range grounds, where basic on-site amenities such as showers, toilets, and BBQ facilities will be available and access to rainwater for drinking. There is plenty of space to set up the swags, and for those who prefer the protection of shelter, two undercover Mess-style huts will be available.
The $100 cost of the trip includes range fees for the entire weekend, Muz has put his hand up to take multiple smokers up and smoking Brisket for dinner Saturday night. Water, soft drinks and a bacon and egg bbq breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday will also be included.
Match Format
On Saturday, we will have a casual match with 8 stages (80 round count) shooting out to 1000m, followed by a long-range focused casual match on Sunday, where you can test your marksmanship and reach out to 1.6km
Sunday's format will be all prone, with two stages, stage 1 will see targets between 500 and 1200m. Stage 2, 1200-1600m. Shooters will have 5 minutes to set up and 10 minutes to complete a 5-target string. You will have 5 rounds to make one impact. Time permitting, the shooter must fire a maximum of five shots & hit the target at least once in order to score & advance to the next target.
Outside the casual matches, there will be plenty of time to muck around and slay some steel.
This weekend away with the club will be an unforgettable shenanigans weekend. As the range management says, "The only issue people have here is that they don't bring enough ammo."
