Grading

PRILHC will conduct grading fairly and effectively, and in the best interests of the club and players. Grading is the process of establishing the number and composition of PRILHC teams to compete in the ILHQ SEQ Junior Competitive Leauge. Playing inline hockey is a team sport that allows players to solidify current friendships but also gives them the chance to expand their friendship base with other players within the club. At different times playing inline hockey, they will encounter a wide variety of players. Our position on team allocations is an important part of the players development and transition to competitive inline hockey.

Grading will be guided by the following principles:

  • Grading will be based primarily on the ability and potential ability demonstrated by players at the time of grading. If required, other information may be used to assist grading such as coaching reports from the previous season.
  • Players will be provided with an adequate opportunity to demonstrate their playing ability.
  • Players should demonstrate an ability to cope with the demands of the division in which they are selected.
  • Grading will aim to select teams that have a balanced group of players in playing positions.
  • Every registered player is subject to the grading process and must attend all grading sessions for their age group.
  • If a player is unable to attend grading, the player or parent/guardian (for a player under 18 years) should notify PRILHC prior to grading.

PRILHC Player Sub-commitee in conjuntion with the Head Coach and Executive, will select players for teams and prepare team lists based on grading and ILHQ requirements for competitive leagues.

Players trialling for a competitive team from Mighty Pucks who are not allocated a competitive team, will be supported in Mighty Pucks to develop their skills and will be invited to participate in competitive playing once ready.

Training

PRILHC run training sessions commencing after grading in February and runs for three school terms, breaking for the holidays.
