Race results 25-10-2020

After missing out on a sail last week because of a lack of wind, the grey sky could not deter keen sailors from the Port Macquarie Sailing Club's 3rd handicap start race of the season on Sunday.

Despite the clouds, a nice 10-12 knot south-westerly welcomed the fleet and threw in some heavy gusts to make a fun afternoon's sailing.

In the monohull division, David Makin on Puddy was first across the line followed by Simon Gandy with crew Zoe and Kieran Copeland on Voyager. It seems there was a race within a race with some family rivalry. Kieran and Zoe's Dad, Andrew, was crew on Red Star which started earlier due to the handicapping. To make matters worse, Zoe was at the helm as Voyager sailed past Red Star!

Coming in third was Roger Shipton on Zazoo who was fast recovering some time after a rare capsize in the first lap. Warren Sykes followed next on Runamuck, then Adam Pilcher and Andrew Copeland on Red Star (nursing bruised family pride). Stuart Symons and Max Ha on Elmo and Martina Holt on Spellbound rounded out the monohull results.

In an unusually small catamaran division, Tony Kuhn on Stella led the way, with only Frank O'Rourke following on Dino.

Next week will be a double header featuring Race 4 of the Spring Season starting at 11am, followed by the 2nd Club Championship race starting at 2pm. Paul Robertson is rostered on duty. Remember to bring your lunch as Covid rules prohibit the usual barbeque.
