A nice 15 knot nor’easter and inbound tide was a great sight for Port Macquarie Sailing Club members for what was planned to be the Race 5 of the Handicap Start Series. But without the handicaps being available, the event had to be changed to Race 2 of the Summer Series.

An interesting course was laid out by the duty officer, Jim Kerrison, with a long upwind leg and some marks that were to be ignored on specific laps making for a bonus game of Memory as well as Sailing.

The conditions provided some great entertainment for spectators with plenty of “air time” for the catamaran sailors. Frank O’Rourke on Turbo took the win followed by Jack Corthals on Crackerjack and Scott Witchard on Hummer. Dave Winter on Spica did not finish.

In the monohull division, Warren Sykes on Runamuck won first on yardsticks followed by Jeff Walsh in Serenity, Simon and Elsa Gandy in Up Beat, Terry Howard in Flying Dragon, Steve Couch in Lazybuoy, Martina Holt in Spellbound, Mitch Dawson in Impetuous, and Stuart Symons in Puffin.
