Handicap Series Race 7

Event information

This event has passed.

Another Sunday with only light breezes greeted Port Macquarie Sailing Club members for the 7th Handicap start race of the season. Gratefully, the direction was more nor ’easterly giving a cleaner flow of air for competitors to sail against the run-in tide.

Simon Gandy and Kate Copeland in Up Beat enjoyed the conditions to cross well and truly at the front of the monohull fleet. Warren Sykes in Runamuck was next across the line with Martina Holt in Spellbound a handful of seconds later. Andrew Richards in Impulsive followed next with Terry Howard in Ratz in hot pursuit. Stuart Symons and Iuri Lage in Elmo crossed next (for the second time) after crossing once and then realising that there were two more buoys to go. Steve Couch in Lazybuoy was next followed by Tony Walker in Deep Purple and Steve and Lucy Bohlsen in Intercepter.

In the Junior division, Drake and Oliver Houghton in Flying Fish sailed well to cross first, followed by Joey and Harriet Houghton in Puffin. Ziggy Ewart and Kieran Copeland in Equaliser finished third with a tough start time from the Handicapper.

The catamaran division was led home by Scott Witchard on Hummer. Tony Kuhn on Stella was second and Dave Winter on Spica third.

Next Sunday will be Race 5 of the Summer Series starting at 2pm. Baerin Houghton is rostered on duty.

Also, remember that the Arrow State Championships will be on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Get down to the clubhouse to watch the action!
