The 4th round of the Port Macquarie Sailing Club’s sprint series was held on Sunday with a light north easterly breeze that built through the day. We had a good turn out and sailors were very happy to have a good breeze in the very hot conditions. The morning races had the slack tide which ran-in strongly through the afternoon. Two 1 lap races were held before lunch followed by two further 1 lap and a 2 lap afternoon race.
Race 1
Catamarans: By yardstick, Tony Kuhn on Stella was first with a good lead over Jack Corthals on Harpic, Rob Barwick on Drift and then Dave Winter on Spica.
On handicap, Stella maintained first place followed by Drift, Spica and then Harpic
Monohulls: Rohan & Aidan Nosworthy in A Power won by a 3 ½ minute margin over Andrew Richards in Impulsive, Terry Howard in Ratz. Jeff Walsh in Firefly and Martina Holt in Spellbound were tied followed by Steve Couch in Lazybuoy, Simon Gandy & Dino in Voyager, Stuart Symons & Liam Halmi in Elmo and then Steve Bohlsen & Will in Interceptor.
On Handicap A Power maintained its win followed by Voyager, Lazybuoy, Firefly, Impulsive, Ratz, Interceptor, Elmo and Spellbound.
Juniors: Charlie Nosworthy in Vitamin C won by yardstick and handicap over Caitlin Hicks & Bridgette Taylor in Dorado
Race 2
Catamarans: By yardstick, Stella was again first followed by Jack Corthals on Harpic, Rob Barwick on Drift and then Dave Winter on Spica.
On handicap, Stella maintained first place followed by Drift, Harpic and then Spica
Monohulls: Voyager won on yardstick over A Power followed by Firefly, Impulsive, Ratz, Spellbound, Lazybuoy, Elmo and then Interceptor.
On handicap, Voyager maintained its win over A Power then Firefly, Impulsive, Lazybuoy, Ratz, Elmo, Spellbound and Interceptor.
Juniors: Charlie Nosworthy in Vitamin C again won by yardstick and handicap over Caitlin Hicks & Bridgette Taylor in Dorado
Race 3
Catamarans: By yardstick, Stella was again first followed by Jack Corthals on Harpic, Rob Barwick on Drift and then Dave Winter on Spica.
On handicap, Stella maintained first place followed by Harpic, Drift, and then Spica
Monohulls: A Power won on yardstick over Ratz followed by Firefly, Voyager, Spellbound, Lazybuoy, Elmo and then Interceptor.
On handicap, A Power maintained its win over Ratz, then Firefly, Elmo, Lazybuoy, Spellbound, Interceptor and Voyager.
Juniors: Charlie Nosworthy in Vitamin C was the only junior sailor after lunch. Well done Charlie.
Race 4
Catamarans: By yardstick, Harpic was first followed by Stella, Drift and then Spica.
On handicap, Harpic maintained first place followed by Drift, Stella and then Spica
Monohulls: Firefly won on yardstick over A Power followed by Ratz, Lazybuoy, Voyager, Elmo, Spellbound and then Interceptor
On handicap, Firefly won over A Power, Lazybuoy, Ratz, Elmo, Interceptor, Spellbound and then Voyager.
Juniors: Charlie Nosworthy in Vitamin C won the junior race
Race 5
Catamarans: By yardstick, Harpic was first again followed by Stella, Drift and then Spica.
On handicap, Drift won over Harpic, Stella and then Spica
Monohulls: A Power won on yardstick over Voyager followed by Firefly, Ratz and Elmo. Spellbound did not finish.
On handicap, A Power maintained its win over Elmo, Ratz, Firefly, Voyager..
Juniors: Charlie Nosworthy in Vitamin C won the junior race
Next weekend is the Port & Macksville double header beginning at 11.00 am and 2 pm with a BBQ lunch in between. Jeff Walsh is rostered on duty.
