Want to get out on the water, have some fun and learn the basics of keelboat sailing? These might be the course for you. Start Crewing and Start Helming Courses will be run on a J24 keelboat in Port Esperance Bay
 
The Australian Sailing Start Crewing and Start Helming is aimed at people with little or no experience in sailing and is run over 12hrs. The participants will learn about sailing a small responsive keelboat with an emphasis on practical experience. With an Ratio of one instructor to 3 participants you will get plenty of time crewing and helming the boat. Cost $350 for PESC Members and $380 for non-members.
 
This course introduces participants to the basics of sailing on keelboats, including boat handling, safety and sailing theory. The course will run over 4 x 3hour sessions on Wednesday mornings or afternoons.
 
Dates: October 28th, November 4th, 11th and 18th 
Time: 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm

Course Overview
The first step on the Keelboat pathway introduces you to the basics of sailing on a small keelboat, including boat handling, safety and sailing theory. In the combined course, you will also experience and develop the theory and practical skills to confidently take control on the helm.

Course Prerequisites

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a keelboat. Learn the basics of crewing and helming, whilst staying relatively dry! All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Crewing and Start Helming completion certificate.
