PAA Seniors Team

Terry Kealey - Chair of the PAA Seniors Committee (PAS)

A physical education teacher by profession, I have had a long and varied background in basketball at a professional and semi-professional level as a player, coach, and administrator. These experiences have included playing and coaching in the NBL as well as a very rewarding role as the full-time General Manager of the Geelong Supercats basketball organization.

My wife Fran and I were introduced to Pickleball in 2019 at our son's wedding in Washington DC. We loved the game, and on our return, we started a group in Ocean Grove, Victoria. Since then, we have had direct involvement in assisting to establish clubs in Torquay, Drysdale, and Leopold. Our region is now a thriving pickleball community.

I have always believed that participating and contributing is important for everyone. When the opportunity to become involved in the Pickleball Association of Australia Committee (PAS) arose, I jumped at the chance. I recognized the huge potential this organization has to help create more opportunities for seniors.

I look forward to making a contribution to the growth of pickleball in Australia and, in particular, enhancing opportunities and a sense of community for our senior players.

Malcolm Selby - Committee Member

I am a retired CEO of a large UK advertising agency.
My achievements, foundations & strategies were in Exhibition/Photography: transforming business presentations through digital imaging.
I retired at 55, and I am a Golfer & Squash player. My wife introduced me to Pickleball, which has interfered with my Golf immensely!

Our passion is to bring competitive play for Seniors in Pickleball. Our aim was to bring together a Seniors' competition which we did successfully in April at the first Inaugural competition at Currumbin. The feedback has been excellent, with such positive comments from the players who felt it was needed, and we are now all excited about the future of Pickleball for Seniors.

Donna Selby - Committee Member

I am married with three children & seven grandchildren. A qualified Nurse who left the health industry to team up as part of the Fairfax group as a Sales Executive, and served many years as a QPS volunteer.

I discovered Pickleball in 2021, yes you guessed, it took over my life, and now promoting Seniors competitions throughout Australia is my mission. I was the first ever girl to play female football (soccer) for Manchester United ladies, and then I became a coach.

In the 1980’s I went to Australia for several years working in the advertising industry, and then found a passion for touch football, I also achieved county level Netball and managed to learn how to play Golf.

Paul Boniface - Committee Member

My name is Paul Boniface, and I have been involved in field hockey since I was 10 years old. I represented local, state, and national teams, and I was a member of the Australian 70s & 75s team touring Europe.

However, my passion for sports did not end there.

In 2019, I discovered Pickleball, and it has become my new obsession. I was one of the founding members of the** Hallidays Point Pickleball Club,** which started as **Beachfront Pickleball Club **and now has 83 members. Since 2019, I have been the club Treasurer, and I have served for three years as a Committee member of the NSW Pickleball Association.

Over the past four years, I have heavily promoted Pickleball in the Mid Coast area. We acquired and transformed three tennis courts in Taree into nine Pickleball courts, including one wheelchair court. I am presently co-instructing primary school children in the art of Pickleball, as well as U3A students.

My passion for Pickleball has led me to become the NSW representative on the Pickleball Australia Seniors Committee. I am proud to say that the Hallidays Point Pickleball Club will be hosting the **Barrington Coast NSW **Regional doubles Pickleball tournament on May 20th & 21st. Exciting times ahead.

Fran Kealey - Committee Member

My background is in Secondary education and I have had a variety of roles over the years involved in curriculum development, student managemnet and leadership. The last was as Director of Teacher Development. When I retired, I was asked to join the college board and I am still an active member. Additionally, I am also the Publicty Officer for the Ocean Grove VIEW club.

Terry and I started the Ocean Grove Pickleball Club in 2020 and I am very proud of what we have achieved on the Bellarine Peninsula in relation to the growth of pickleball, where there are now four operational clubs.

Not having played small ball sports, I played baketball; pickleball has been a bit of a challenge for me. But, I have loved playing and improving my skills and I look forward to the future of PAS and what we can offer to our senior players nationwide.
