2022 was an enormous year for Volleyball in NSW. Rebounding from back to back incomplete years due to COVID, 2022 saw new programs, huge growth and impressive finishes from our Phoenix teams. The community came together better than ever before, performing at every level as a result of the commitment and dedication of our athletes and coaches.
Every match saw the Phoenix rise to new challenges and bring better performance on the court. The team is looking forward to rising higher in future AVL competitions.
For round 6 of AVL the Phoenix travelled to the central coast for the final home round of the season. Running a clinic with the local kids in the morning allowed them squad to connect with the local community before the matches against vipers.
Round 5 of AVL started with some challenges for the NSW Phoenix with a cancellation of flight and detour via Melbourne on Saturday morning requiring the match start times be delayed.
Round 2 saw NSW Phoenix get their first taste of AVL. While there are a few
experienced players who have been involved in AVL before for some athletes this was their
first ever game of senior indoor volleyball. This was also the first time Phoenix have played AVL.
