HOW TO
BECOME A
REFEREE?
 

 

 

 

 

 





SIGN UP WITH YOUR CLUB

  • We ask you attend two referee camps throughout the season, these camps will be facilitated by O&M and are free.
  • We require you to complete an online referee course, this is provided free by WPAUS.
  • You will receive training throughout the season by our senior referees and referees from NSW & VIC WP.
  • You do not need to have played to learn to ref, we welcome spectators and referees returning to the sport.

WHERE WILL I START?

  • Depending on your previous experience you will be placed with the Juniors at first and as you develop move onto to senior grades.
  • O&M will organise you to be accredited once you have gained enough experience.
  • We will require a WWCC to start.
  • The referee coordinator will allocate you to the level of games best suited to your experience, they are your main point of contact for feedback and development.

WHAT WILL I GET PAID PER GAME?

PAY RATES
Juniors - $20 C Grade $20 B Grade $30 A Grade $40
Mentors $40 per hour

PAY DAY
Pay day will be the first Monday of every month.

If you don’t show and have not given a valid reason or 24 hours notice, O&M have the discretion to deduct a payment from your monthly payments.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

  • FREE O&M Long sleeve shirt.
  • FREE Bucket hat.
  • FREE Referee whistle.
  • Ongoing support and assistance from Mentors, Referee coordinator and O&M Executive.
  • Courses, Clinics and access to become a qualified referee.

WHAT IS EXPECTED?

  • Ref 2 games per week on average.
  • Commit to ongoing training.
  • Wear a ref Uniform shirt whilst reffing.
  • Be sun smart, this means wearing a hat, sunscreen and bring water to the pool.
  • Join the Facebook O&M Referee page.
  • Communicate your availability within 24 hours of the roster being posted.
  • If your availability changes 24 hours notice is expected to organise a replacement.

Act with respect: Living and breathing behaviours that demonstrate mutual respect for yourself, your opponent, the rules and officials of the game and for everyone involved with the sport to feel included and enjoy all the sport has to offer.

Play in the spirit of the game: Our shared passion for the game coming to life through displays of sportsmanship, fairness, comradery, commitment and a sense of pride in the way we participate and compete.
