North West Lightning Academy 2026

Following the success of previous years’ North West Lightning Academy, we will be running a similar program prior to the start of the 2026 hockey season. The program is designed to increase a player’s skill base, game knowledge, meet other players in their association and zone and to kickstart season 2026.  We believe the Academy offers a great opportunity for players to get to know one another before the JSC trials in April.

 

The five-week program is run at satellite venues across the North West Lightning zone and includes two game days where all players meet to play a variety of games within their age groups. Players will be exposed to all coaches at the game days, enabling them to learn from a wealth of experience. To ensure the sustainability of the program, a minimum of 12 participants is required at each satellite venue.

 

Key Information

• Open to players born in 2008 – 2016
• Venues include Bendigo, Dimboola,Mildura, St Arnaud 
• Training on Sundays from 9am – 11am 
• 5-week program including 2 match days
• Training dates: February 8^th, 15^th, March 15^th
• Game dates: March 1st and March 22nd in Bendigo from 11am – 2pm
• Cost: $130 - Training polo included (previous members not needing a polo can reduce the cost by $50) 
• Family discount of $10 for second and successive children

The North West Lightning Academy will enhance a participant's chances of selection for the Junior State Championships by being coached by JSC coaches and selectors.

Players intending to trial for JSC are strongly encouraged to take part in the program.
