Notice of Special General Meeting

Toronto Amateur Sailing Club

Dear Members, we are looking forward to seeing you all at Toronto for the NSW State Championships in 3 weeks

Pursuant to clause 21(2) of the Constitution, notice is hereby given of a Special General Meeting to be held at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club at 5.00pm on the 9th day of March 2024, at which the following business only will be transacted:

         1. Replacement of the current Constitution of the Association with the “NSW 9er Association Constitution 2024” attached to this Notice; and

   2.  In consequence of the adoption of the “NSW 9er Association Constitution 2024” as the Constitution of the Association, the 2023/24 Financial & Membership Year be extended to 31 December 2024.

Explanatory Notes:

The‘NSW 9er Association Constitution 2024” is a compliant Constitution based off the 2022 Update put out by NSW Fair Trading, tweaked to suit the particular requirements of the 9ers such as:

A membership and financial year that runs from 1 January to 31 December each year,consistent with the National Association.

Club representation at Committee level, with controls on the numbers of positions any one club can take;

Appointment of delegates;

Conflicts of interest statement;

Voting restricted to 18- and overs so parents need to become members with the sailors (same as currently is the case); and

Clause 27(3) allows for electronic meetings.
