LEVEL 1 BOAT RACE OFFICIAL COURSE

(USEFUL FOR BOAT DRIVERS TOO!)

Seeking school rowing parents, rowers (over 16) and interested rowing club members!

Come along and learn about what Boat Race Officials (BROs) do.

We're very friendly and the session is low stress and all about learning something new. 

The format involves about 2 hours of discussion and presentation.... maybe 2.5-3 hours if the group gets engrossed in asking questions and telling stories.

We cover things like:

• The different roles and responsibilities (Marshall, Starter, Judge at the Finish, Umpire, etc.)
• Equipment, procedures (e.g. how to use the red and white flags, what the bell is for, rescue calls on the radio etc.)
• The national accreditation system for BROs
• How to get involved as a BRO-in-training or as a boat driver -- i.e. getting out there and giving it a go in practice!

Note: this theory course is Part 1 of becoming an accredited BRO, Part 2 involves mentored on-water practice.

COURSE VENUE & TIME

6:00 - 8:30 pm, Tues 10 May

The Cathedral School -- Lecture Theatre (building N on the school's campus map)
