Round One
Div 2
It was terrific to see a team of people who have only just come together (including still learning each other's names in warm up!) have such great support for each other.
I'd like to highlight Madi's amazing pitching performance in her first ever official game pitching, in which she struck out multiple batters.
Will also did a fantastic job behind the plate in a position he typically doesn't find himself in. Will definitely got the play of the day with an impressive huge hit over the cones for a homerun!
Well done to everyone, in particular those who played their first game of softball, we had so many of our team getting bat on ball and running the bases hard. It was a very encouraging first game of the season

Div 1
We unfortunately didn't quite have enough people on the diamond for a full hame in our first round with a couple of significant pre-season injuries. We are grateful to the Cobras/Ejays team for lending us some of their players and to Elise from GW for filling in so we could have a game.
It was great to see Nat back on the pitching plate after some time away. Her performance showed plenty of promise with her getting the ball past the bat a number of times for strike outs.
Amazing to have Olivia stepping up and being able to hit the ball hard to the outfield against much older opposition.
Sofia is another who stepped up to challenge herself, consistently getting in the right position and attaching the ball.
Ava was similar in that she was doing all the right things in the field and moved around 1st base well.
Jackson is another young one who stepped up and worked hard behind the plate, before heading to the outfield where he made a great play into 2nd base.
Fingers crossed we have a full team next week with plenty of positives to keep working on.

U13
Our under 13s started the season with a bye, we are looking forward to getting on the diamond in round 2!
Open 2
I love how this group of people instantly came together as a team unit, even though we had a numer who hadn't met before the game.
We are a group that have a combination of the young and enthusiastic, with 5 of our team playing their first open age game, playing alongside 5 more experienced players, including 2 mother and daughter combinations.
Cindy started the game extremely well, not giving up a hit in the first 3 innings, and Lea did an outstanding job behind the plate to control the whole game.
Two of our young ones, Lucy and Mackenzie had great hits off a quality pitcher.
Elise and Ava also took some great catches in the outfield.
We didn't quite come away with the win, but a 1-4 scoreline against a much more experienced opposition was a pretty exciting way to start the season.

Open 4
We started the season against the Raiders, with a hard fought match that had a lot of big hitting and great fielding on both sides. We welcomed Amanda to the team, with Mez and Grace making their comebacks!
After scoring early, we had some more great hits but failed to make the most of it in the way of runs and Raiders got on top in the end. Liz controlled the game from the plate with her typical reliability.
Shout out to Amanda, who came on to pitch the second half in her first Falcons game, Sammy for a huge double into an outfield where the ball just wasnt rolling, and Doz for a brilliant outfield catch on her knees!
Everyone batter very strongly, we just need to find a way to avoid the fielders next week!

Open 3
Our final game of the day, with a Grand Final Rematch. A beautiful day at the park, the best start to the season anyone can remember. Except for the fact that we lost to our always friendly rivals Glen Waverley.
The big lesson we take away from this game is 'Don't hit it to Shennae!'
Shout out to Dana Banana for a massive Home Run in this game!
