Round Three
Div 2
In a game that was played in rainy and difficult conditions, Olivia did a great job pitching for her first game on the plate this season. We had a fantastic play between Sofia and Amelie to catch the running stealing 3rd.
Lots of great hitting and base running from the team again this week, which is fast becoming a feature of our team. In what seems to be a weekly occurrence, Will hit another homerun in his first at bat. Then, he managed to top it with his second at and hit an amazing grand slam!
Whilst we didn't come away with the win, it was fantastic to see the perseverance and fighting spirit of our team coming back to close the gap late in the game.

Div 1
This team continues to develop and build, which is fantastic to see. We unfortunately had one of those games where we hit the ball very well, but straight to fielders, whereas all of their hits seemed to find the gaps. We had some great hits from Ava, Olivia and Jackson each finding a gap through shortstop.
The team worked hard in the field, with some great pitching from Mackenzie and Jackson doing a good job behind the plate. We also had a ripping catch from Will taking a line drive in foul territory down the 3rd base line.
Whilst the scoreline was not so pretty, we were much more competitive than the scorebook suggests. Onwards and upwards as we keep improving.

U13
Under 13s played at GEMSA this week, and it was a battle to the end! Although we lost 17-11, there were some spectacular plays and hits.
A massive hit by Gwen to get the bats going followed by some top defensive plays.
There were two pop ups caught by Audrey and Rachel in the first inning, spectacular strike outs and throws to first by Sean and a massive throw from Short Stop by Rory to get a big out! Falcs had to field some big hits from big kids, with Camden chasing down everything near him in left field.
Some superb base running by Sophia, with her quick thinking scoring us a run, she also caught an inning for the first time! Impressive base running by the team, racing through bases stealing their hearts out as usual!
Big welcome to the team to Evie and Mikhail, you both have really brought your A game in the field and with the bat! Mikhail in his first game ever made a tag out at second and got a hit off the opposition pitcher!
Finally, a big thank you to our new scorer Shane, a quick learner and massive help for the Under 13s
Well done Falcons! See you at Waverley next weekend!

Open 2
We had a strong team performance from everyone this week, to come away with our first win for the season!
Elise had a ripping game making several outs at 2nd base and dropping an amazing bunt that the fielder only picked up as she reached 1st base!
Lea again did a superb job behind the plate, including throwing a DR out trying to steal 2nd. She also complimented her efforts in the field with 2 good hits and 2 RBIs.
More good hits also came from Ava, Cindy, Lucy and Westy.
All-round great team performance in the field only allowing a handful of base runners from the other team scattered throughout the game.
Well done team, keep the momentum going!

Open 4
We came out swinging against the Ejays, taking home the choccies in a hard fought game. It was a delight to see the return of our trademark batting power, with home runs from Liz (5 RBIs) and Jana lighting up the scoreboard.
While the Ejays threatened a comeback, we held our ground with solid pitching from Amanda and Liz. Jana was also a brick wall behind the plate, keeping runners honest and shutting down their momentum.
We welcomed the very enthusiastic Emily to the team, who brought a lot of positive energy. Rocket also made a guest appearance at third base, pulling off a slick tag out and proving that second efforts truly pay off.
It was fantastic to see such a cohesive team effort, with loads of encouragement and positive talk throughout the game. See you all next week when we take on GEMSA!

Open 3
Another beautiful day and this time we reversed the outcome against Glen Waverley, winning as a result of a great team effort.
Special mention must go to Amber's right field grand slam hit which landed us the winning 4 runs, and also her flying / sprawling save for a great out at 1. Liz muscled her way to third (after a big home run in Open 4), Emily hit a double, and Ruth and Dana equal topped the batting stats.
Shout out to Kenny for standing her ground to get a double play out after a home plate smack down.
