Welcome to Round 8!

Welcome everyone to our Round 8 Newsletter!

Another week has flown by, and we're now well into the 2026 season. Every round continues to showcase the incredible spirit of our North Albany Hockey Club, with players developing their skills, supporting one another, and giving their best every time they step onto the field.

Winter has certainly arrived, bringing plenty of chilly mornings, rain showers and muddy sidelines! A huge thank you to all of our players, coaches, volunteers, umpires and supporters who continue to brave the weather and keep our club running so smoothly.

A special congratulations goes to everyone who represented the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association at the CBH Group Men's Country Championships over the weekend. We hope you all had an amazing experience, created plenty of memories and represented our region with pride. We look forward to sharing some of your achievements in this week's newsletter.

Back at home, there was still plenty of hockey action, with some fantastic team performances, close contests and another great display of sportsmanship across all grades.

As always, thank you for everything you do to make North Albany such a welcoming and supportive club.

Your dedication and willingness to brave the conditions does not go unnoticed, and our club truly appreciates everything you do.

As a friendly reminder to all teams, please make sure your nominated umpires and timekeepers are organised and ready for your allocated duties each week. Everyone doing their part helps our competition run smoothly and ensures games can proceed without delays.

Still to Come This Week

Holidays may have started for some however, there's still some hockey to enjoy this weekend, so if you're looking for something to do, come on down and support our North Albany teams!

Our players always appreciate seeing plenty of red and grey on the sidelines, so rug up, bring your loudest cheers and come along to support the club. Good luck to both teams—we'll be cheering you on!

Well done to every player, coach, manager, umpire and supporter for another fantastic week of hockey. Win, lose or draw, your effort, sportsmanship and teamwork continue to make our club proud. We can't wait to see everyone back on the field for Round 9!

Player of the Week – Women's B Grade

Congratulations to Ronnie! 👏🏑

Ronnie earns this week's Player of the Week recognition after spending the game doing equal parts defending and directing traffic—with great success in both!

She was rock solid in defence, consistently shutting down the opposition, while her constant communication kept the team organised, focused and switched on. Ronnie's leadership both on and off the field made a real difference, giving the team confidence throughout the game.

Congratulations, Ronnie, on a well-deserved Player of the Week award, and thank you for your outstanding contribution to the team!

CBH Group Men's Country Championships

Congratulations to everyone who represented the Lower Great Southern Hockey Association at the 2026 CBH Group Men's Country Championships.

It was fantastic to see several North Albany players proudly representing our club and region. We are incredibly proud of the effort, sportsmanship and commitment shown by all involved.

🥉 Division 1 Men finished 3rd overall after an outstanding tournament.

🥈 Division 1 Masters were Runners-Up, going all the way to the Grand Final after a fantastic championship.

🏆 A special congratulations to Darren Parkes (Spencer Park), who was named Fairest & Best for the Championships—an incredible and well-deserved achievement.  Darren also happens to be the other half of our own Bec Gallimore, who took home the Women's Fairest & Best award at last week's championships. What a powerhouse hockey couple... congratulations to you both! 💙🏑.. absolute legends! 💙🏑

Well done to all the players, coaches, officials and supporters who represented the Lower Great Southern with pride.
