🏑 ROUND 18 – THE POINTY END! 🏑

Well… here we are! Somehow the season has flown by and we’ve officially reached the pointy end of the hockey season!

There is still plenty to cheer about, with FOUR North Albany teams heading into Grand Finals — and we would absolutely LOVE to see the club down at the turf getting behind them! 

So grab a drink, grab a coffee, grab a friend (or three!), find yourself a spot on the sideline and GET LOUD!  Come and cheer for our North Albany Reds and Greys as we give our teams one final push towards the finish line.  The best thing about a club like ours isn't just the hockey. It’s the people who turn up week after week to coach, umpire, manage, play, cheer, organise, drive, wash uniforms, find lost mouthguards and somehow remember where everyone is supposed to be!

A HUGE thank you to our players, coaches, managers, umpires, parents, families, volunteers and supporters who have helped make 2026 such a memorable season.  Together, we’re creating more than hockey players. We’re helping our kids learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience, responsibility and having a go — while making some pretty fantastic memories along the way.  And let's be honest… the occasional coffee, sausage roll and sideline laugh probably helps too!

So North Albany — one more push!

Let’s get down there, support one another and finish this season with plenty of noise, plenty of pride and plenty of North Albany spirit!

Our 10/11/12 Girls dug deep in their Preliminary Final against Spencer Park and came away with a 1–0 victory, booking themselves a place in the Grand Final!  A fantastic effort from the whole team — and now they get to do it all again!

Our Men’s B side put in a huge effort against Mount Barker, coming away with a 3–1 win and earning their spot in the Grand Final!

MEN’S A – PRELIMINARY FINAL

SPENCER PARK 2 – 1 NORTH ALBANY  Saturday 12 September

It wasn't to be for our Men’s A, going down 2–1 to Spencer Park in their Preliminary Final.  A massive congratulations to the team on making it this far and giving the finals series everything they had.  There were plenty of moments throughout the season to be proud of — and we’re sure we’ll see plenty of these guys back out there next season!

This week we’re giving a big North Albany shout-out to Lawson Terpstra!

There may not be a photo of the legend to go with this one… but we couldn't let the achievement go unrecognised!

LEADING GOAL SCORER FOR THE YEAR!  What an achievement, Lawson!  A fantastic individual milestone and something to be incredibly proud of.  Congratulations, Lawson — and well done on a cracking season!

Our 2026 Presentation Night was held at Three Anchors, and what a fantastic evening it was.

A HUGE thank you to Spencer Park Hockey Club for hosting such a great night and helping us celebrate the players, volunteers and people who have contributed so much throughout the 2026 season.

A huge thank you to everyone who gives their time behind the scenes. Clubs simply don't happen without volunteers!  And of course… the dance floor definitely got a workout too!  A fantastic night celebrating another fantastic hockey season.

What a fantastic morning of hockey!  Our 3/4 Greys and Redbacks hit the turf for Super Round, with each game played over two 10-minute halves — plenty of hockey packed into a busy morning!

The Redbacks battled hard too, with some very tight contests.  There was some great hockey, plenty of teamwork, lots of encouragement and, most importantly, plenty of smiles!  A huge well done to all our players, coaches, parents and supporters who made it such a great morning.

It’s been fantastic watching these little hockey stars grow throughout the season!  Well done, Greys and Redbacks!

 SENIOR COMPETITIVE HOCKEY 5s

LGSHA is also exploring a new Senior Competitive HOCKEY 5s competition and is looking for interested players and teams.  The proposed competition would run for approximately six weeks, followed by a final or finals series depending on nominations.

PROPOSED FORMAT

Goalkeeper required for each team
FIH rules, modified to exclude baseboards
Approximately six weeks of competition
Final or finals series depending on team numbers

POSSIBLE TIMES:  Tuesdays – 6:00–7:00pm OR Thursdays – 7:00–8:00pm

And here we are…  The final whistle of the season is getting closer.  For some teams, the season has already come to an end. For others, there is one more game to play.

So let's make these last few games count.

Let’s bring the noise, the friendships, the fun, the questionable sideline commentary and maybe even a little bit of the outrageous!

We can cheer, clap, shout, laugh and get behind our team!  Because there’s nothing better than seeing a sea of North Albany supporters making plenty of noise for our teams.  So get down there, bring your crew and let’s finish this season LOUD!

Let’s celebrate the wins, support each other through the tough ones and enjoy every last minute of the 2026 season.
