Round 17 is officially done and dusted, and boy, are we entering that prickly time of the hockey season! The games are getting bigger, the competition is getting tighter, and every goal, tackle and save seems to matter just that little bit more!

There has been plenty of action, plenty of excitement and more than a few nail-biters across our North Albany teams this week. Some seasons have come to an end, some teams have battled through incredibly close finals, and we’ve seen some fantastic hockey along the way.  And while there have been a few heartbreaks 😭, there is also plenty to celebrate…

🏆 WE HAVE TWO GRAND FINALISTS! 🏆

Our North Albany Women’s A have secured their place in the Grand Final, while our 7/8/9 Girls have also fought their way through to the big one! 

That means we’ve still got plenty of North Albany pride, excitement and cheering to come! Our senior finals campaigns may have come to an end for some teams, but the season is certainly not over yet! With our two Grand Finalists preparing for their big games and our Year 2/3/4 teams gearing up for their Super Round, there is still plenty to get excited about.

🏆 FINALS WEEK — WHAT A RIDE!

What a week of finals hockey for North Albany! There were thrillers, one-goal games, extra time, shootouts and some seriously nervous supporters! 

Our teams have fought hard all season, and while unfortunately a number of our sides have now been knocked out, there is certainly plenty to be proud of.  A huge congratulations to everyone who took to the field and gave it everything!

🏆 FINALS RESULTS

7/8/9 Boys — SEMI-FINAL 💔
North Albany 1 – 2 Spencer Park
A heartbreaking finish, with Spencer Park scoring the winning goal with just three minutes remaining. Our boys fought right to the end and came so close to getting themselves into the prelim finals.

5/6 Grey — SEMI-FINAL 💔
North Albany 2 – 3 Mount Barker
Another incredibly close semi-final, with just one goal separating the teams. A fantastic effort from our Greys throughout the season.

Women’s B — SEMI-FINAL 😱
North Albany 5 – 6 Spencer Park
What a game! After finishing with a draw at full time, the teams remained locked together through two periods of 5-minute extra time. It then came down to 1 v 1 shootouts against the goalie, with five players selected from each team. The result wasn't decided until the very last player, with Spencer Park finally taking the win. A heartbreaking way to finish, but what an incredible effort from our Women’s B team!

With the Year 2/3/4 Super Round coming up this Saturday, these little hockey stars will get the chance to finish their season with a fantastic morning of hockey, putting everything they have practised into action.  Go North!

🏑 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Year 5/6 GREY

Congratulations to Archie Smith! 

Archie has been named Player of the Week for his outstanding contribution both on and off the field. His leadership, team-first attitude and willingness to step up when needed have made him such a valuable member of the team.

As one of the team's leading goal scorers, Archie has certainly made his mark on the field, but it's his leadership, effort and commitment to his teammates that really stand out.

Well done, Archie — a very well-deserved Player of the Week!

Year 2/3/4 REDBACKS

Congratulations to Alexis “Lexi” Stan-Bishop! 

Lexi has been a star this year! Her ferocious attack on the ball, impressive skill and determination have made her a key player for our 2/3/4 Redbacks.

She has continued to grow throughout the season and has shown plenty of talent and confidence on the field. Lexi is definitely one to watch for the future! 

Well done, Lexi — a very well-deserved Player of the Week!

It’s time for our Year 2/3/4 Super Round! This Saturday, our North Albany Redbacks and Greys hit the turf for a morning of fast-paced hockey, big smiles, plenty of competition and, most importantly, loads of FUN! 

They’ve been practising, learning, improving and building their skills all season — and now it’s time to put it all into action! 

The Super Round will see our teams playing two 10-minute halves, giving them plenty of time to get out there, have a crack and show us what they can do!
