Welcome to Round 15!

Welcome everyone to another edition of the North Albany Hockey Club newsletter! 

Goodness, time is flying by! It feels like we only just started the season, and now the end is well and truly in sight. Finals are appearing on the horizon, and we can’t wait to see which of our teams manage to make it through to the home stretch! 

But before we start thinking too much about finals, there’s still hockey to be played! So let’s put everything we’ve got into these last few rounds, keep working hard, supporting each other and enjoying every minute out on the turf.

Players of the week

Women’s B — Player of the Week: Sav Koster

A huge congratulations to Sav Koster, our Women’s B Player of the Week! 🌟

Sav continues to prove that she is settling into the team beautifully, improving week after week and looking more at home every time she steps onto the field. Her hard work was rewarded with an absolute cracker of a goal, pouncing on an intercept and making sure the opportunity didn’t go to waste! 🏑🙌

It was a great example of the confidence and improvement Sav has shown throughout the season.

Well done, Sav — a very well-deserved recognition, and hopefully not the last goal we see from you!

5/6 Redbacks — Player of the Week: Leila Herud

A big well done to Leila Herud, our 5/6 Redbacks Player of the Week! 🌟

Leila has shown fantastic consistency, strength and determination throughout the season. Playing through the centre, she works hard to win the ball and does a great job of feeding it out to her teammates and creating opportunities.

Her grit and consistency have been a real asset to the team, and she is always willing to put in the hard work for those around her.

Well done, Leila — very well deserved!

A Special Day at Mount Barker

For those heading to Mount Barker on Saturday, Mount Barker Hockey Club is celebrating its history with its first ever Max Paget Round.

Their players will wear black armbands throughout the day in celebration of the occasion. The Women’s A game will be a special one, with the Mount Barker team not only playing for a spot in the finals, but also competing for the Max Paget People’s Choice Award, which will be voted for by spectators and presented after the game.

There will also be food and drinks available all day in the clubrooms, so if you’re heading down to support our teams, there’s plenty happening throughout the day!

The Countdown to Finals Is On!

And just like that, the countdown to finals is officially on! With only a few rounds remaining, the excitement is starting to build, and we can’t wait to see which teams manage to break through and compete in the finals!

A huge thank you to all our players, umpires and coaches who have braved some pretty dismal weather this season — with the occasional sunny Saturday thrown in to remind us what hockey weather is supposed to look like! 😂☀️ Your commitment and enthusiasm week after week is what makes our club so great. 

Keep an eye on the LGSHA updates as we get closer to finals to see which teams have secured their spot in the home stretch.

And while we’re at it… send us your photos! 📸 We’d love to share some happy faces from around the club — or, if you’ve got an especially awkward one, even better! 😂 Whether it’s a great goal, a team celebration, a questionable hockey face or just a moment that made you laugh, send them through and we’ll see what we can share!
