NDWHA welcomes nominations for managers of the U14 Representative teams. The team manager must be female and aged over 18. An outline of the roles is below. A valid WWCC and registration as a volunteer with NDWHA will also be required.

NDWHA Managers Duties

Prior to attending a State Carnival, the key requirements of the manager are to maintain communication with coaches, athletes and parents/guardians about uniforms, training and accommodation, and to ensure that relevant forms are completed.

You will be emailed a list of athletes and caregivers and their preferred contact details. Print this out for ready reference.

TASKS

Organise training by liaising with the coach and the hockey centre. Communicate training times to Coaches and athletes or their parents/carers and record attendance.

If you create a WhatsApp group, it should only include either parents/guardians OR players. For privacy reasons, adults (other than the coach and manager) and underage players should not be part of the same group.

Ensure that all players and parents/guardians have signed the HNSW Code of Conduct form for the carnival. This is scanned and emailed through to rep@ndwha.com.au and held by the Manager for the duration of the carnival. You may be asked for it throughout the carnival.

Age waiver form – for anyone under the age relevant the championship, this should be completed by player and parent, emailed to rep@ndwha.com.au and we forward to Hockey NSW.

Forms are accessible via Hockey NSW (Age waiver, code of conduct, mouthguard waiver etc).

❑ Accommodation: The Rep Coordinator will provide advice on this. Athletes are welcome to organise their own accommodation. NDWHA block books accommodation. Please communicate the relevant accommodation details to parents/guardians.

Advise families of representative payment fee. Representative Fees are ~$180 per player.

Ensure that all athletes have the required uniforms and record shirt numbers on team list – this will be needed to check the game card each game.

      ❑ Organise a team dinner/breakfast if appropriate.

Uniforms: all players should bring both types of socks (white and striped). Long sleeved undershirts (~skins) should be white.

      ❑ Managers bag (supplied):

First Aid Kit

Captain’s leg band

Spare uniform for blood spill incidents

Game ball

❑Canvas interest and organise the team for the team photo (often Click-in-Focus, if available) and collect money for the photo order.

STATE CARNIVAL

If you are unsure of anything, please don’t hesitate to ask the Representative Co-ordinator/Tournament Director.

TASKS

Managers meeting – online the week prior, take note of the contact details of the Tournament Director in case it is needed.

The Rep Coordinator will allocate shirt numbers via Revolutionise

Visit the Tournament Directors office early on the first day to introduce yourself, confirm player details and add/correct shirt numbers and your contact details if necessary. There will be an expectation that you have the Code of Conduct form ready to be sighted at any time during the carnival.

Visit the Technical Bench at half time of the game prior to the game. Ensure that the correct starting line-up is listed (tick those taking the field), all subs listed, all team officials listed, Captains © and Vice Captains (VC) indicated in the appropriate places on the team sheet.

Organise a parent (or someone over 16yrs) to be the judge for your game. They need covered shoes. They will either be assigned the task to start the clock, or to document goals/cards etc or check the time the subs go on They cannot give instructions, or coach, players and cannot join the team during warm-up or during breaks.

Ensure that the team sits in the dugout on the correct side. First team in the draw sits to the left of the tech bench (as facing the field). The manager must sit closest to the tech bench.

Ensure that the Captain has a captain band or ribbon (or tape) attached to their uniform or around their sock.

Ensure that team players are wearing mouthguards and shin pads when taking the field and that players have face masks. Ensure that all piercings are removed or covered with tape and all other jewellery is removed. Fitbit watches should be covered with a sweatband.

Ensure that players substitute within the designated area (at the halfway) and that the player being substituted has come off before the substitute player enters the field.

Be responsible for behaviour of all members of their team (players and officials) at all times. Ensure that team officials and athletes are appropriate and respectful toward umpires, players and technical officials. The manager must always remain on the team bench throughout the game. In the case of injury, only enter the field of play if asked by an umpire or game official.

Ensure that you have the team medical kit in the dugout.

If playing quarters, players are not allowed in the dugouts during the quarter time breaks, only at halftime and at completion.

Ensure that all injuries to players and team officials are noted on the game card.

Ensure that the match sheet details (especially the score) are correct and sign the game sheet immediately after the game. Your signature authorises the score.

Be aware that in junior games, there has to be a goalie on the field at all times. If the umpire wants to send the goalie off, the captain will need to go instead. This also applies if there is poor spectator/coach behaviour – ie the captain will be sent from the field.

Collect all playing shirts after the final game.

POST CARNIVAL
