NCYC COURSE SPECIFIC INFORMATION

This course is scheduled specifically for youth participants (under 18 years).  Our senior instructor Andrew will deliver the syllabus with a strong emphasis on powerboating safety and boat control.

 

There is some pre-course reading required in order to make a successful attempt at the multiple choice theory quiz during the first session.  Your Start Powerboating handbooks are available from the Club as soon as you have completed registration and made full payment.

 

Once you have successfully completed this course, you can take your certificate to RMS in Newcastle to be issued with your General Boat Licence.

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Courses will be conducted with reduced participant numbers and under the current guidelines of the Academy's COVID Safety Plan.  Participants will be provided with a copy of the Sailing Academy COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines.

Course Overview
Your powerboating pathway begins here, introducing you to practical driving skills, trip planning, boat maintenance, safety equipment and dealing with emergency situations. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License. 

Course Prerequisites

Water confident.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to drive a powerboat, following the course you will have sufficient skills and knowledge to skipper a small powerboat. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Start Powerboating completion certificate.
