Transition to Yachting (Start Racing)

We are pleased to welcome participants to our Transition to Yachting (Start Racing) program for Summer 2023

This course will include six training sessions, conducted over the dates as listed above.

Session times for the first four weeks are 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  For the last two weeks, session times are 4:00pm to 7:30pm when we participate in the start and race to the heads of the Club twilight race.

Training will be conducted on the yacht Aurora, a 40ft IOR Farr 40.  The yacht will carry two qualified instructors, two sailing mentors and course participants.  All sailing will be done within Newcastle Harbour, there is no offshore sailing during the course.  The course will include onshore theory session(s) relative to the weather experienced during the course and the safety/risk assessment to being on-water in the prevailing conditions.

Participant number - maximum 6.  The NCYC Sailing Academy abides by the Australian Sailing instructor:student ratios, hence places are strictly limited.  To avoid disappointment, we recommend registering early.

The registration fee for this course is $450
