It gives us great pleasure to announce that the 45th Nacra national titles are to be held in Airlie beach Queensland on the 25th of October 2025 to the 31st of October 2025 at the Whitsunday sailing club.
Registration will be on the 25th of October and racing to start on the 26th of October 2025.
The Whitsunday Sailing club has a great reputation of hosting many major events like the Airlie beach race week. The Nacra Assocation has held many titles at this club and all have been very memorable events.
The club has a very relaxed atmosphere but has all the modern facilities, like restaurants, bars and a great verandah to view the turquoise waters of the racing area plus a large grass area with ample room for all the boats to rig.
Airlie Beach is the gateway to many iconic destinations like Hamilton Island, Daydream Island, Whitehaven beach plus many reefs and tourist spots all within a short boat ride away.
The area is serviced by the local Prospérine airport for anyone looking at flying into the event.
Airlie Beach also features a very tropical swimming lagoon on the foreshore on the main beach and has many bars and restaurants all within walking distance from the sailing club.
Accommodation -Airlie beach features many styles of places to stay ranging from fantastic Caravan parks motels, hotels, self-contained units and resorts all within easy distance to the sailing club too.
Nacra in Australia has a long and proud history with the 1st nationals being held way back in 1980 in Western Australia on the Nacra 5.2s.
Over the years Nacra has made provided a great steppingstone for sailors with many top sailors going on to become national and world champions in many classes.
A lot has changed in the boats since then, but one thing remains the same is the very friendly and laid-back atmosphere the Nacra nationals provide giving sailors a chance to catch up with friends and fellow Nacra sailors from all over the country.
This being our 45th Anniversary we are planning many great social events and looking at doing a day trip to Whitehaven beach plus providing spectator boats for friends and family to view the racing.
Plus holding as many social events as possible outside to take advantage of the warm tropical climate.
This event will also incorporate the 40th Anniversary of the 1st Nacra 5.8 national titles.
The 5.8 has been the backbone for the class in Australia and is still one of the strongest fleets actively sailing in Australia.
This class has been a great steppingstone for sailors to move onto Nacra F-18s, Nacra 17s.
We are planning many big things to celebrate the 40 years with some cash prizes, novelty prizes plus a division for boats over 30 years of age. We would love to see as many older 5.8s attend and celebrate this achievement of the class.
We have chosen this time of the year to host this event to take in the variable weather and tides of the region plus this is also out of the high peak school holiday season and will provide much more variety in accommodation.
With this also being the 50th Anniversary of Nacra worldwide we are hoping to incorporate some special things to celebrate this great achievement as well.
