Club training returns!

Published Tue 30 Mar 2021

Dear Members,

After many months without regular training sessions, we are excited to announce that Melbourne University Water Polo Club will be returning to training after Easter, on the 11th of April, 2021. This timing aligns perfectly  with the recommencement of Water Polo Victoria’s new competition calendar and Winter Competition, which is expected to run from May through to August.

Unfortunately, our old training home at Melbourne High School is no longer open for external group bookings due to new COVID-19 requirements. While there have been some ad-hoc options for training available, we have been reluctant to announce anything until we were able to secure a regular and on-going arrangement.

For the period of April and May, club training will operate out of both Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC) and Melbourne Uni’s own Beaurepaire Centre pool (Uni Pool). Unlike previous years, we will not be splitting the men’s and women’s training sessions for the time being. This gives us a great opportunity to all train, get to know each other, and build on the club’s great social environment, along with the potential to head out for a drink or dinner after Sunday sessions.

Training Program

  • Sunday, 4:00pm - 5:30pm, MSAC Diving Pool, commencing 11 April 2021

    • Skills session, all members

  • Wednesday, 7:45pm - 9:00pm, Uni Pool, commencing 14 April 2021

    • Swimming session, all members welcome, if you wish to play in either of our top men’s or women’s teams this is a required session

  • For the purposes of contact tracing and insurance, all attendees must be registered club members. Please complete the club member registration here.

  • Please ensure you adhere to the requirements of the venue with respect to COVID-19 protocols, including online check-in’s and following the directions of all venue staff

To celebrate our first formal club training, we’re inviting all members to join us for a pub dinner after training on the 11th April, so please bring a change of clothes if you plan on joining us. Further details to come.
