About

Club Day

Mulgrave Athletics  relies on volunteers. On competition days, there can be up to 80 athletes taking part in five events each. First event starts at 8:30am. To get started on time, we need volunteers to help set up the equipment each week. Volunteers are what make our club work. We would love to see some new faces from 8:00am to help with this task.

Parents must be prepared to help at club days to ensure everything runs smoothly and children obtain the maximum benefit from their events. We need parents to help with a variety of tasks ranging from assisting at a field event, acting as an assistant to the starter or being a time keeper. No previous experience is needed to assist out on the field or with timekeeping for the track events and there are a number of qualified officials to guide parents.

Athletics probably makes more demands on parents support than any other sport. We need your help throughout the season. Usually parents and carers move around the grounds with their child’s group to watch them participate in the day’s events. This is where you can also assist in the various tasks that are essential for each event. These tasks include:

  • Track Events: Finish Line Placing's, Time Keeping, Recording Results
  • High Jump: Bar measurement, Bar Placement, Recording Results
  • Long/Triple Jump: Raking the pit, Measuring, Spiking, Recording Results
  • Throws: Measuring, Spiking, Retrieving, Recording Results

If you think you can help in the canteen, please let us know so we can add you to the roster, one Sunday per season is all we ask.
