Women's Skill Development Program
MYC Women's Skills Development Program - Intensive sailing training with facilitator Sarah Johnson - May 2022 through to August 2022.
This program is for womwne of all ages who have sailing experience and who would like to improve their keelboat skills as crew and/or as helms. The aim of the program is to increase women's participation in sailing - either at MYC or elsewhwere - to refine their skills and develop their competence and confidence as cruisers or racers.
This program will run on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 9am - 12pm. Sailors are asked to register for all 6 sessions with a one off payment.
Sessions include a mix of classroom learning and primary on water sailing, utilising the MYC's four Elliott 6 keelboats. This is an all-weather program; if it's not possible to be on the water, classroom sessions will be substited.
Dates: May 21st / June 4th and 18th / July 2ns and 16th / August 20th
$240 for MYC active members
$240 plus sailpass fee for non-members. Non-members can attend up to five sessions under a sailpass at an additional cost of $10 per sailpass. Non-members will then be required to join as a Mooloolaba Yacht Club member to continue. Membership will discounted by the amount of sailpasses paid to a maximum of $50.
Meet:
MYC clubroom, first floor above Rice Boi Restaurant at the Wharf Mooloolaba
Bring:
Water Bottle
Sunscreen
Sailing gloves (the club has some available to borrow)
Enclosed, non-slip, non-marking shoes
Hat
Weather-appropriate sailing clothes
Change of clothes in case you get wet
Optional - but hightly recommended:
Digital watch with countdown mode
Life jacket (the club has some available to borrow)
Small drybag for personal items on board
PLEASE NOTE: Pre-enrolment is compulsory. You will not be able to participate if you just turn up on the day.
