Masters Hockey Sunshine Coast Inc AGM held 23 February 2026

  1. President welcomed those in attendance and the meeting was declared open at 6.20 pm
  2. Apologies: Greg Lane, James Boreham & Rod Tredoux
  3. Voting: It was agreed any voting would be show of hands - Copy of attendance attached

4. Business arising from the last AGM held 17 February 2025

  • Fee increase to $20pp due to drop in regular numbers - passed
  • As no independent umpires were available JC & GR offered to umpire for the season
  • 100 Board for juniors agreed to purchase 2 squares - passed
  • Hoody agreed to update our constitution and present at the next AGM
  • Recommended that we write to the Association to Introduce a Masters “Player of the Year award” - SCHA approved
  • SCHA introduced a revised nomination process for all teams in the Association - Masters were able to negotiate a revised fee to cover uniform levy only
  • Hoody raised the idea of utilising Masters players in Division 3 if odd teams - did not proceed

5. Presentation of Financial report & Treasurer report:

Chris spoke to the meeting that due to increase in player levy our financial position has been maintained along with savings from not paying umpires

In 2024 we also purchased new uniforms that resulted in a loss from the previous year

Major expense is turf hire

2024 c/f $3530.75 - surplus in 2025 $2016.08 giving us a balance of $5546.83 in the bank

President report:

Hoody provided an overview of the season including;

Thank you to the committee members, team co-ordinators and umpires 

Addressed the shortfall of players / goalkeepers to ensure sustainability of the competition

Positive was the attraction of some ‘new’ younger players

Maintaining good numbers ensures our Monday competition can continue

Fielding teams in all age groups at State titles -due to the effort of our team co-ordinators; Mark Thomson >34’s, Peter Ries >44’s & James Boreham >54’s. Good numbers selected in Qld teams and we have players heading to the World Cup later this year.

Masters provided support to the Association in a number of ways during the year including running the hill bar on GF day, working bees & junior coaching & development sessions.

Secretary report:

Challenges due to drop in regular numbers in teams

Trophy winners for season 2025 - Buccs: Memorial Cup & Blues Bros - Minor premiers & Premiers

Increase in fees to $20 pp per game ensured sustainability in our finances

Thank you to our rep team co-ordinators - strong representation at State titles in all age groups

2 ex-players  JC & GR umpired for the season with 2 independent umpires arranged on GF night

Continued to Support the 100 Board for our juniors

Introduction of Masters ‘Player of the Year’ - Peter Ries worthy winner

Hoody for completing the update on our Constitution

Thank you to Chris Dowd for organising the 2 functions mid year & GF night, Josh Harris for supply the meat and members who ran the BBQ on those nights.

Issues that may impact this season - numbers (especially lack of GK’s) and loss of players towards the back end of the season due to World Cup

Decisions will need to be made on how that will look closer to the time in June / July.

Seconded: Mark Thompson - no further nominations / Chris elected by show of hands

Secretary - no nominations received

President called for nominations from the floor - none received

Greg Richards offered to continue in a care taker role and this was accepted 

It has been the intention of the committee that positions be refreshed every few years so we don’t have a situation where all positions need to be replaced at the same time. President asked members to consider the role as it’s a necessity to meets the requirement of our constitution. Assistance can be provided to help train someone in the role before Greg leaves for OS late July.

President suggested we try and have a member on the Competitions Committee for the future so we have a voice at that meetings

General Business:

Hoody presented the updated version of the Constitution that had beed circulated with the AGM notice

Survey results - presented. Due to a small number of responses we were not able to get a clear result on key questions asked
