Masters Hockey Sunshine Coast Inc AGM held 17 February 2025

Welcome: President opened the meeting at 6.30 pm and welcomed members and outlined the function of Masters hockey on the coast 

Apologies: nil received

Voting: it was agreed any voting would be by show of hands  - Copy of attendance attached

Business arising from last AGM in 2024;

Control of our Facebook page: Completed by Stephen Hood

Junior 100 club fundraising: Agreed to purchase 2 squares - Advised SCHA to invoice

Business directory: No interest was forthcoming and did not proceed

2024 Draw: Amendment to fixtures to cater for the Nationals mid season - worked well during this period

Notice of motion to change our banking arrangement from ANZ to Bendigo Bank - approved & completed

President thanked the committee and team co-ordinators for their work in 2024, especially Chris for the time involved in securing new playing uniforms for all teams - best dressed teams in the Association. He then declared all positions vacant

Election of 2025 committee:

President - 1 Verbal nomination Stephen Hood - declared elected

Secretary - 1 verbal nomination Greg Richards - declared elected

As Greg would not be continuing next year it was suggested to have a couple of other members listed to assist and be in a position to take over in 2026 Mark Thomson & Mark Brown agreed to the proposal

Treasurer - 1 verbal nomination Chris Dowd - declared elected

Non committee positions:

Social media / coaching co-ordinator:

Stephen Hood agreed to continue in this role with James Boreham providing assistance with coordinating teams for State Championships

Judicial Delegate: Scott Foreman agreed to take on this role

General Business:

Fee increase: As discussed in the Treasurers report it would be necessary to see a fee increase in 2025 due to the decrease in regular playing numbers during 2024. After discussion it was moved to increase weekly playing fees to $20

Umpires: Due to the unavailability of our umpires from 2024 it may come back to player umpires this year. An offer from Greg & John Campbell to umpire was accepted and members were asked to speak with their respective clubs and aim to get more umpires involved as this was only a short term solution

100 Board for junior fundraising; Agreed to purchase 2 squares - Sec will confirm with SCHA

Update on constitution: Due to changes in constitutions from State level down it will be necessary to follow up our own constitution. Stephen Hood has agreed to do this work and present at the 2026 AGM

Masters “Player of the Year’ award - Hoody raised the idea of recognition of a Masters player at the SCHA grand final. It was agreed that we write to SCHA to include the award for our highest representative player during the year. Secretary to contact SCHA

Rep teams & State Championships - Hoody spoke about the new registration requirements for all teams via Rev-sport - further information will be obtained to confirm the new system

Members were advised some building work will start later this week and may impact areas we can access next Monday night

Hoody spoke about a proposal he took to SCHA in regard to utilising Master players in a team to play in Division 3 if they have a odd number of teams - awaiting a decision from SCHA

With no further business from the floor meeting was closed at 7.40 pm
