WELCOME : Myles welcomed everyone to meeting and apologised for the cancellation of the last meeting as he had received an urgent call to meet with Captain Sarno, that same morning.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING : Myles confirmed everyone had received the Minutes of the last meeting.
MATTERS ARISING : None – any comments will be dealt with during this meeting.
FEEDBACK :
a) Meeting with Captain Sarno – MW - Captain Sarno wanted to know what Point Yacht Club could do for him – he requested that the Club write to the Lipton Trustees to change the categories for participants in future Lipton Cup events to make it more equitable for more clubs to participate. The Club has written to the Trustees in this regard, and it is believed that Dave Hudson, who is a Trustee, has been requesting this discussion for some time.
Captain Sarno has indicated that he will offer shipping of US$3,000 per container. MSC would do the clearance and PYC would have to make the forwarding arrangements for the containers to be moved from the harbour to the Club. As each container could accommodate six to eight boats this seems to be a good deal. Details of who has requested shipping would be sent to MSC and they will deal directly with the participants. The details received from the UK and Australian Mirror classes have been forwarded to MSC. Sandra Marques, Export Client Services Manager, has been in touch with Myles. She will be our contact with MSC. It has not been confirmed as yet whether this price is for shipping both ways, or just one way.
b) Zoom meeting with IMCASA. SH reported that Mirror S A has been doing a lot behind the scenes, especially in terms of advertising. The Cape Town Mirror class has found a reputable boat builder and they will offer hulls only, and/or full rigs, depending on a participant’s requirements. PC indicated he is hoping to have another Webinar. We need to advertise this event to the whole sailing fraternity in the country. PC will set up a site where interested parties can get detailed information on registration; shipping; accommodation; car hire etc. The Protea Hotel in Umhlanga does have a shuttle service. We would ideally provide the information regarding transport and accommodation etc but not get involved in participants logistics.
c) Meeting with Noma Sokhela, Priha and Jackie de Fin. Priha’s son is with Sail Africa and both she and Noma are very enthusiastic about sailing. MW has written a very diplomatic letter to the City emphasising that this is a Blue Zone Blue Water event. Jackie advises that Noma and Priha have made a few amendments to the letter and it will be forwarded to the correct channels. The requests to the City include our accommodation needs; transportation for competitors; allow parking on the grass behind the Beach Club; use of the north end of the parking garage for storage of gear etc; repair of the beach toilets which have been vandalised; use of the amphitheatre and possible marquee over it; and permission, if deemed necessary, to erect a marquee on the beach. PC felt sure that PWC would be happy to assist us in this event. There is a room between the two Clubs – perhaps this could be used as a Committee room, and use of their toilets would be useful. PC will ask Grant Wessels who we should approach at PWC in this regard.
There was a discussion regarding the positioning of the containers – perhaps we could investigate the possibility of putting the containers at the Beach site to facilitate easy access for the overseas competitors. MW will send a copy of the letter to the Committee members.
